It was a fantastic day - full of fun, wine and laughs. Our driver and guide - Roy - was great fun and full of information about the region. Lunch was great and also liked the fact that we could decide which wineries we were wanting to visit.

We enjoyed trying wineries we wouldn’t have otherwise visited, with a small but very friendly and global group of fellow travelers. Our favorite winery of the day was owned and operated by two Taiwanese brothers who make beautifully balanced wines. Cheers!

A fine day in the Barossa

We had a lovely day with Alan and 9 companions on an outing to the Barossa where we visited vineyards at Yaldara Chateau, Kies, Rusden and Ubertas. All of the samplings were delicious and lunch was a fine treat as well for a day of sunshine and fine wines of many kinds (although Shiraz is a star!). We appreciated Alan's good and wry humor and his interesting information about Adelaide as we made our way out of and back into this lovely city.

Allan was entertaining and seemed to know a lot of history. All the places we visited were beautiful. The food at the place we stopped for lunch was great. It was very convenient being picked up and dropped off at our hotel!

Charming Wine Tour

This was a delightful, educational, and witty experience that we highly recommend. Our tour guide was Alan (two A's, one L!), who was quite cheeky, but also was an excellent guide for the wineries and scenery around Barossa. Additionally, we had the benefit of a six person group, so our tastings all felt quite intimate and carefully curated, especially since we had some phenomenal tasting hosts who were really well-versed in their wine and local terroir. One small caveat I would give is, if you are not familiar with Barossa wines, most of the wines we sampled tended to be heavier red wines (Shiraz, Grenache, Merlot), as some of our tour guests tended to prefer white wines and lighter red wines. The wineries were all quite accommodating for those folks, but, those of us who love a goody meaty Shiraz definitely had the better experience. Moreover, my partner and I both thought that the final winery of the day (Ubertas) was the best, and we regretted not saving room in our luggage for their bottles, especially since shipping back to the US was quite pricey at some of these places. Overall, if you want an intimate tasting experience with some great wines, a quick-witted and impish guide, and plenty of character along the way, I don't think you could do any better than this tour.

Firstly, I am glad that this company has updated there Viator description of this itinerary from 2 days ago. I love wine, not an expert by any means, but travelled a lot and have had over 100 wine tours, shared and private, lucky me. Issue basically is I did my research and decided on this company based on the wineries on their itinerary. 4 out of the list, which was was detailed, was expected. Chateau Yaldara, kies, Rushden, Murray St, 1847, Chateau Tanuda, Grant Burge & Rockford. Only 2 of this whole list we visited, plus 2 others I did not know about or have time to research as they were not on my itinerary which i still have. I had planned to buy wine at 4 of those listed, hoping that at least 2 we would actually visit, by law of averages. This did not happen. I have never given a score like this on Viator after over 20 years and hundreds of bookings. Viator complaints process is also extremely disappointing, offering 10% refund, probably their fee, which is not the point. Please advertise your itinerary correctly. Saddest thing, I bought no wine, which is another first. I chose this company because of the wineries they listed. 2 out of 8 listed, not good enough. Lambert and Ubertas was not on the original itinerary, like I say, since my complaint, they have now changed that and updated Viator, so at least some good has come of it.
