Casa del Jade, is located inside a Colonial house, called "El Jaulon", a two story yellow building at the corner of 4th street and 3rd avenue. Only 1 block away from the Main Square.

I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of Carmenita’s workshop and being able to cut and polish a piece of jade. Carmenita was so patient with me and spent time making sure I loved end result of my lapidary work. The workshop is in a beautiful building and if you’re wanting to purchase other jewelry, they have some me beautiful jade creations. As a part of the workshop I also enjoyed the tour of the Jade Museum.

Romancing the stone

We have been coming to Guatemala for 14 years and can honestly say this is our favorite tour we have ever taken. We were greeted by Carmencita who is an expert Jade Carver. We got to select our raw products and then we carved them into wonderful necklaces. This experience is not to be missed in our opinion, and a fantastic value. We will come again.

Very interesting workshop! You choose the piece of jade that you prefer and then make your own jewel from it using all the equipment on site. Very professionnal staff. If you have the chance to go by yourself or with a small group, it is the best because you have more time to have help. At the end, you can also have a guided visit of the museum to enjoy Mayan jade pieces of art.

Creating a Family Treasure

Took the opportunity to create a pendant for my granddaughter (who is 2 years old, but will be given it when she turns 16). Wanted something made by me in her possession. The experience was outstanding ( albeit a bit expensive). I started by picking out the piece of jade and shape I wanted. Then went through cutting and polishing… no engraving on the jade. The artist was engaging, informative, safety conscious, and very friendly. It took about one hour to complete the pendant….and it was gorgeous. The Casa de Jade is also a very high end jewelry store that has incredible creations (out of jade). I very much enjoyed the experience and making something that I hope will stay in my family for generations.

What a fun experience! You have the choice of making a necklace, bracelet or keychain. Cesar was a wonderful teacher making this a unique and fun experience! He helped us pick out our stones ensure there were no weak spots, we then cut, sanded, buffed the stones to make our keychains. Would recommend this to anyone interested in this kind of experience! When we finished the experience, we decided to also toured the museum learning more about the history and fell in love with some keeping the gift shop. The museum and purchasing anything is not required or pushed upon you at all. If you are interested in any jewelry, keep a look out for Carlos! He was patient and provided thoughtful suggestions as we were looking at various pieces!

It was great! Cesar was very nice and throughly showed me the process on cutting my own jade jewelry. It’s quite the immersive experience. You almost do the whole thing yourself except for the parts that have a higher likelihood of injury.

My kids and I all enjoyed this unique experience. My children are ages 7 and 8, they were also capable to make their own jewelry! Our instructor Sassy was very knowledgeable, helpful and patient. I would do this event again for sure! We have a great souvenir to take home from Guatemala!
