Pickup details

We will pick up passengers at their hotel or accommodation location in the historic center of Antigua for transport TO Panajachel. In Panajachel, we depart from the docks, or the central hotels. Please specify your pickup address when booking. Please be ready 15 minutes before departure time to allow for the pick-up of additional passengers. There may also be a wait as the shuttles collect people from around town. Your patience is appreciated.

What To Expect

Whether headed to Antigua or Panajachel, your scenic transfer begins with pickup at your accommodation at your preferred time. Once situated in the spacious van, sit back and soak in the spectacular mountain views.

The drive takes approximately three hours, and passengers can request a restroom stop as needed.

Remember that the journey takes you along winding roads, and passengers sensitive to motion sickness should prepare accordingly.

Upon arrival, enjoy a smooth drop-off at your Antigua accommodation or central Panajachel hotel. Guests will be dropped off at the centrally located dock if the Panajachel address cannot be accessed by van.

Apparently the driver accepted money from other passengers to drop them off first in other towns on Lake Atitlan. It probably added an hour to our trip in heavy traffic on narrow roads around the lake. Honestly very disappointed that those of us who played by the rules (went to Panajachel even if our final destination was somewhere else) had to suffer. If he’d been upfront and told us there would be additional stops, we would have updated our boat driver and gotten off early. Zero transparency and shady business. Not worth it to save $100

Panjachel is the closest town on the lake to Antigua so if there were other stops, we'd like to know where they were. The shared shuttles are supposed to be direct from Antigua to Panajachel although things were a little complicated during Easter week with the pickup locations. Would you be so kind to reach out to us on Whatsapp and let us know exactly what happened so we can look into this? The driver would have had to pass through Pana to get to any other villages along the lake that are accessible by road. Thank you for sharing and apologies!

Ok for backpackers but not meant for a traveling family

This is a fine experience for backpackers but unfortunately we were a family with a young kid. They just packed as many bodies into that van as possible. Also the van had no AC and so you can already what a 3 hour trip like that would be like.

Easy and efficient shuttle

Taking this shuttle to Panajachel was easier than expected. First, I had a tour that ran longer than expected, so I was going to miss the noon shuttle. I contacted the guide for information the day before for a later tour and they were quick to respond and scheduled me on the later shuttle for no additional charge. Second, the guide went above and beyond to meet me away from my hotel when I went on a last minute errand run before pickup. She took a cab to me and got me and my partner to the shuttle pick up right on time. Lastly, the shuttle driver made sure to tie our luggage down tight and got everyone to their destination in Panajachel right on time. We and others on the shuttle were cutting it close for getting to the last ferry to our hotels across the lake, but the driver was quick and efficient with time to make sure we got there right on time. Great service all around!

You get what you paid, for 20 usd don’t expect much. They have to go all around the town to pick up passenger so expect that you will be stuck in the shuttle from 15 minutes to 2 hours before the trip starts. The transportation is very basic and it can be uncomfortable if you are big and tall. Don’t expect any luxury on board, it’s jus a van with made up bench and no ac. If you have more money, find something else, if you are on budget and you are patient, you will arrive to your destination.

Ride went well. Once I got to Panajachel, they told me that my hotel was out of their drop off range (no worries at all) and they had arranged a local Tuktuk to bring me, the tuktuk price was 50 quetzales for 2 people and later found out the normal rate was 30 for 2 people. The shuttle worker knew that and was part of the upcharge. Kinda shady since they arranged that specific tuktuk for me and would have known the normal rates.

Hi Daniel, When you booked with us, we notified you that we don't go to Jenna's and that tuktuks wait at the area where the dock is. I'm sorry you felt that the guy who helped you was in on a 'scam' in some way, but what I will tell you (I am a foreigner who lives here in Guatemala), I still get overcharged by tuktuk drivers everyday. I'm not sure who you're referring to as the "shuttle worker" (was it the driver?) or why you think he was in on a scam to get the tuktuk driver an extra $3 out of you, but sorry it appeared shady. We don't have any "shuttle workers" in town that wait there. Next time, I would suggest you ask around at different tuktuks to see their prices. There are fixed per-person prices within the confines of Panajachel, but the rides outside of town, like to Jenna's BnB where you stayed, are open to negotiation. Thank you for riding with us!

We haven't had any vehicle breakdowns so I'm not sure what you mean, but if there is a problem we surely will talk to the provider to take the vehicle out of service. We had one of the busiest travel weeks of the year at the time you traveled between Christmas and New Years so perhaps the drivers were overwhelmed and didn't provide the service they should have! We were traveling from San Pedro to Panajachel the morning of our shuttle, we gave ourselves over an hour to get to the shuttle departure spot but unfortunately you can’t predict how long the boat will take. We got to the spot where the bus was going to meet us 10 minutes late and they had left us. When we contacted the company they were very condescending on the phone and not helpful to help us rebook transportation. I understand that we were supposed to get there 15 minutes early but having to take multiple modes of transportation to get there it is hard to predict. So if you are traveling by the public boat to get here I would not recommend this company.

Hi Claire, We called you when you were not at the departure point and you said you were currently in the middle of the lake. It was already 5 minutes past your scheduled pick up at that time. You then screamed at us, said you had up to 30 minutes for us to wait, and then asked for a refund. We explained your seats are reserved for you and we cannot refund you. You said you wanted us to get you on the next shuttle and we told you that you would have to make payment and you belligerently screamed again and then hung up, and then filed a claim with Viator for a refund. We have nothing to do with the boats, or helping customers arrive on time. We clearly state in the message you receive at the time of booking that you need to be there 15 minutes before the departure. I'm sorry if you felt we were condescending when we tried to explain our policy to you. Screaming at us when you clearly cannot follow instructions is unhelpful and perhaps this review reflects more clearly on YOU as a customer than on US as a service provider. Most of our clients do take the public boats for the Panajachel shuttles, and they manage to arrive on time. I'm sorry you couldn't manage that.

A van for price conscious but not comfort seeking people

This is a van that got me to Panajachel, which was its job, so it gets 2 stars for that. The rest was not good. I’ve seen many other vans doing this journey that were spacious but ours was a tiny van with a ceiling just inches above my head (and I’m not tall), packed completely full, smelly and without air circulation, and the driver took turns so hard that we were slipping around or bumping our heads on the ceiling. Would not take it again!
