I chose this experience because of 2 specific factors, first being that it’s an introductory dive as I don’t feel comfortable with diving, second being that it’s stated that it’s a maximum of 2 pax per diver. It’s a bit grey for my experience, so let me elaborate, my dive were 4 pax to a diver, it was a mum and her 2 kids and me with a diver (JP) assigned to us. I was the last into the water, the mum and the 2 kids went in and spent a long time to what felt like forever, I didn’t have my watch with me to really tell the time, but it definitely was somewhere between 20mins to 30mins, the mum had issue with equalising her ear pressure and it delayed them. Eventually they went on to dive, leaving none of them in my sight while I look down from the surface of the water, trying to enjoy whatever I could see under the water as I do not know if that was it for me, I wasn’t told what was the plan, since I am left alone, citing that I seemingly breathe really fast and heavy when I got into the water as I was very nervous, because I don’t feel safe and at ease, hence I went for this introductory dive with a max of 2 pax and a diver.
At one point I struggled with my mask and some water came into my mouth, I pulled the rope to bring myself to the boat and tried to call out for the guy who’s on boat (the one who drive the boat) for assistance but he didn’t hear me, I eventually got to bring myself in with the rope so close to knock on the boat to get his attention, little did I know, my elbow were black as I rubbed against the bottom of the boat and rubbed off the special paint that prevent algae, I was told about the paint after the dive and was explained about this special paint by JP.
After what felt like a forever wait, JP finally came back for me and signalled if I’m okay and I signalled back “ok”, and we went for a quick look around the corals and explore some marine life and got back to the boat. I’m just glad I got to see the deeper part of the marine life in Bora Bora as it’s my first time to Bora Bora and I’m not sure if I’ll ever be back, this is also my first experience with Viator, so overall it doesn’t match what’s portrayed for the services. I said this is a bit grey as I kind of have a 1-1 at the end when JP came back for me, but 80% of the time in the water before this, I was pretty much alone on the surface and at one point struggling to get any attention, which is quite an uneasy feeling. Being a first experience with Viator, this is a little disappointing.
