Wonderful tour of Jewish Budapest
neil_c, Mar 2024
Our experience with Miklos was informative and deeply meaningful for us. We spent time at 3 synagogues and had time for discussion and even a little shopping. He was insightful and quite expert on the subject , a kind and pleasant gentleman . We HIGHLY recommend this tour !
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear Neil, Thank you for your kind words. It's always a challenge to meet experts. I mean I was impressed by your expertise and knowledge of Hebrew. I hope you liked the city and will come back. Best, Miklós

An Essential Tour of the Jewish Quarter with a Great Educator
Janice_S, Sep 2023
We had Miklos (Fungarian) as our private guide and he was really great in sharing lots of information and experience. I really appreciated the first question he asked us which was why we wanted to do this tour (we are non-Jewish). I loved how he wove the history of the Jewish people in Hungary as distinct from elsewhere. We visited the three synagogues, each with different architecture and serving a different Jewish branch or sect, all the while explaining these differences. It was an incredibly moving tour passing the Carl Lutz Memorial, passing Herzl Square, visiting the Cemetery and stopping at the Raoul Wallenberg Holocaust Memorial Park where the names of those Jews executed are recorded on the metal leaves of the Weeping Willow orTree of Life (also learning that well known Hungarian Jewish people such as Tony Curtis and Estee Lauder have contributed to the quarter and its creation). As well, there is a memorial to Wallenberg and other Righteous Among the Nations. The whole experience is a wake-up call in these turbulent times. We finished the tour at a nearby cafe where we had the chance to discuss the situation in Israel with Miklos. A wonderful guide (and retired educator) who gave us a warm welcome and many insights, including a take-away Hungarian Jewish History summary which I really appreciated.

Dear Janice, Thank you very much for taking the time to sum up the essence of the short very contentful time we managed to spend together. As you said the contribution of the Jewish community to the 19th century development of this beautiful city is enormous. No wonder Pest became an attractive place to live for newcomers as well so much that in the late 1890s Pest's Jewish population exceeded 25%. I hope you will come back for another tour, this city has so much to offer. Best, Miklós
Jewish Heritage of Budapest Private tour
Rene_N, Sep 2023
If you would ike a tour visiting the main jewish synagogues with a few additional locations and general infromaion, this is the tour for you. I would have like more in depth information of what the jewish people did to protect themselves, stories of incidences that happened, the processes that took place, etc. A more heartfelt experience. We did not receive any handouts or beverage as indicated. Overall a so-so experience.
Response from Host, Sep 2023
Dear Rene, I appreciate your words and sorry if you left dissatisfied. Actually, as the title says, it's a Jewish Heritage tour, i.e. the history of Hungarian Jewry in historical context. What you refer to is stories of Holocaust. But as you learnt, that's the paradox, Hungarian Jews did not do much to defend themselves since they were loyal citizens and did not ever imagine that the Hungarian State would betray them. I take your advice and try to bring some colourful stories into the narrative. Sorry about the handout, I simply forgot to give it to you. I always offer guests to have a drink and wrap up but sometimes they prefer to leave. I am sorry if the latter happened in your case. Miklós
Interesting and thought provoking.
Steven_L, May 2023
Guide presented knowledge including both facts and opinions. The historical information he provided was both helpful and enlightening. That helped us to contextualize the information and caused us to have additional discussions after the tour itself.
Response from Host, May 2023
Thank you for your feedback. Glad to meet your expectations. Miklós
Simply the best way to learn and explore!

Dear Ilene, Thank you for this laconic and very appreciative comment. I hope you will come back for more tours. Best, Miklós

My guide was incredibly...
Amy G, Sep 2017
My guide was incredibly knowledgeable in the history of the city. He also was sensitive to the areas that I wanted to see. He went over the top in showing me so many additional things that I would never have known about without his knowledge. We had coffee and pastry in a very special cafe as well. It was a wonderful tour. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in the Jewish history of Budapest.
