    Our tour meets at Bo Kaap Deli. It is situated in an old blue building on the corner of Rose and Church Street. Our group will be ready to go promptly at 12:00pm, so please do let us know if you happen to be running a couple of minutes late.

    The tour ends in the popular Fireman's Arms in the De Waterkant area. We do recommend making use of Uber or Hotel provided services. We do not finish the tour were we start from.

  • Allergies or dietary requirements bookings please note: This tour is base on our local food and dishes from Cape Town, if you cancel out meat, carbs or alcohol is does change the story and experience.
  • Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Dress code is comfortable, including comfortable walking shoes.
  • A maximum of 10 people per booking.
  • A moderate amount of walking is involved, approximately 2 Km.
  • Dress for comfort.
  • Not wheelchair or stroller accessible.
  • We CAN accommodate no seafood, shellfish and pork allergies/food restrictions.
  • We CAN accommodate gluten free, wheat free, nut, dairy, halal or kosher allergies/food restrictions.
  • Tickets are non-refundable, they are however exchangeable/transferable with a minimum of 48 hours notice prior to tour commencing.
  • Tour runs in slight rain but depending on how extreme, please not the guide will contact you.
  • Cape Town has paid street parking available. We do recommend making use of Uber or Hotel provided services. We do not finish the tour were we start from. 
  • Please make a note on you booking if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, our guides book the food in advance to avoid missing out on any of dishes.
  • Bookings must be made for children of 3 years and older.
  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 12 travelers

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

  • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
  • This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

Interesting history and wonderful sampling of food and drink. It was a great way to spend our first day in Cape Town. The guide was excellent and very helpful with ideas for other activities in Cape Town.

Great for first day tour in Cape Town

This was our first day in Cape Town, and we decided to take this tour so we could get to know this area and have some tips of good resturants and places to go. Justin took us to some good places, and we ended up visiting some of these places several times.

Wonderful Food Tour in Bo Kaap

The venues were well chosen and the food terrific. It also included a walking tour of the area and our guide also gave us a ton of information about the local history. We were given plenty of time to sit and enjoy our food and drinks. One of the best food tours we have been on.

Enjoyable and informative, much more than just a food tasting

Enjoyed whole experience- Justin is knowledgeable and skilled in ‘painting ‘ a broad historical picture of South Africa - which sets the scene for the food tastings. The portions are extremely generous and add up to meal +, we didn’t need dinner later!😀 We were each given a collection of spices, with instructions, with which we can recreate one of the delicious dishes. . Highly recommend..

Cape Town Must Try Local Cuisine

Marianne was an amazing tour guide. She was very knowledgeable about the Bokaap history and area. We were able to start our tour with some wonderful tea and koe(k)sisters. The tour continued with some opportunities to walk through the Bokaap area and our ability to capture some great photos. There was plenty of food along the way with the final stop for an adult beverage and dessert. We had so much fun with several of the other tour guests as well. This is a must do if you are looking for some great food and want to eat the local cuisine. I don’t know if we would have found any of these restaurants on our own, so having this tour gave us a chance to try something and now we can go back for dinner. Go hungry!!

What a great afternoon! Justin was very friendly and knowledgeable and truly a local. We visited 4 different venues and ‘sampled’ something different at each. When I say ‘sampled’ I don’t in any way mean small portions! There was more than enough food to fill us up but the walking between each location helped to give us a rest before the next stop. We highly recommend this tour!

This tour was soo good we got to try many South African dishes and they were all authentic this tour does include some game meat but please go into it with an open mind the game meats were absolutely delicious

This was a great tour!! Our tour guide Justin took us around Bo Kaap and the neighboring areas, teaching us about the history and culture. We ate a ton of food and went to really local and welcoming places. This was a great way to learn about South Africa and experience the best food! Highly recommend this tour!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Justin is a great guide - well-organized, knowledgeable, and very passionate about Cape Town and it's food, culture, and history. As it was a walking tour, it was centered around Bo-Kaap, one of Cape Town’s most historically rich neighborhoods. And, that was fine - there is plenty to see and taste in just that relatively small area. I've been on food tours in several cities around the world and this one was one of the best I've experienced.
