    Pedro was an awesome tour guide. The lunch was MORE than I expected. Pedro's interaction with the locals was top notch- would recommend this tour to anyone.

    This is a great story about the resilience of black people. This highly recommend for people of African descent who doesn't have an opportunity to go to Africa. It's a beautiful snapshot of how life was, and still is in many parts of Africa. My only two gripes with the tour were; A. They didn't pick us up, which other Viator tours have done in other countries, and it wouldn't have been inconvenient. B. The tour started an hour late because they were waiting for other people to show up, meaning we were standing out in the heat for an hour too. Despite these minor issues, I still highly recommend this tour. Our viator guide Pedro was amazing. He was very apologetic about the delay and was very attentive and caring during the tour. Our local Palenge guide at the town was wonderful as well.

    My husband and I truly enjoyed this trip. It was very informative. Who said you can learn something new every day. Victor was awesome!!! Lunch was excellent!!

    The palenque experience is one to remember from the heat, boxing, sweets by aunt Roberta, music studio, medicine man, lunch, and tour guides Edwin and Pedro. The history is interesting but their today living is amazing.

    Truly an amazing experience! Vic was an excellent host and went above and beyond to make sure we were all comfortable and answered every question. He is extremely knowledgeable about Palenque and Palenque’s rich history and traditions. It is so obvious that he loves what he does. The food was absolutely delicious and the tour is full of activities. We went to the town square as well as boxing, candy making, dancing, the herbalist and much more. Vic also takes pictures and videos for you so you can have the memories forever. It was a wonderful day!
    Wonderful UNESCO heritage site close to Cartagena

    This was a highly enjoyable and informative tour of the UNESCO heritage site the village of Palenque. This fascinating African settlement about 1.5 hours from Cartagena is a remarkable cultural treasure and our tour featured traditional dancing, a discussion of African natural medicine, African inspired foods and the strong history of celebrated boxers who were from this area. Our tour guide Victor spoke excellent English and was a wealth of knowledge about his hometown. Our driver was skilled and brought us to Palenque efficiently. In addition, we were served a delicious lunch of fresh grilled fish. I highly recommend this tour for those who love learning about history and culture.

    We met at one of the squares within the walled city by our guide for the day, Victor. We drove for about an hour to hour and a half. When we arrived our first stop was Victor's family home where he began a conversation on the history of Palenque. We walked through a portion of the town and we discussed slavery and various aspects of history that many didn't realize. We made stops at the home where sweets are made, to the medicine man, the dance studio, the music studio, and our last stop was lunch. We had fish, rice, and avocados. I've never had an entire fish before and it was really good! Overall, this tour was a really great experience. Victor is really knowledgeable. He was born and raised in Palenque and still lives there now. He was the perfect person to host the tour.
