What To Expect

Book a private or small-group tour and meet your guide outside Casablanca’s Hassan II Mosque, the world’s 3rd-biggest mosque.

After admiring this monumental mosque, check out the exterior of Rick’s Café, immortalized in the 1942 movie, "Casablanca." Hear its backstory before turning your gaze to the Sqala tower, a remnant of Casablanca’s Portuguese-era fortress.

After strolling through the maze-like medina, transfer to the Mahkama du Pacha, an exquisite government palace only accessible to tour groups—you’d miss out on admiring its intricate courtyards and mosaics if you were sightseeing independently.

Shop for handicrafts in the Habous quarter, also called the new medina, and visit a traditional bakery where locals do their baking, to sample freshly made bread. Finally, visit a classic French-style patisserie to savor Moroccan sweet pastries like almond macaroons (own expense).

After roughly four hours, a transfer to the city center or your centrally located hotel concludes your tour.

Rick’s café will be closed when we pass by because they open at 12 PM, we don’t intend to go inside we just want to go by and talk about it. Travellers can come back later for a drink if they fancy it.
This is a child-friendly tour. Children under the age of 6 are permitted to join this tour free of charge. Please inform us at the time of booking if you’ll be bringing a child under the age of 6.

Lovely and informative walk

Spent a lovely morning walking the Medina and the new Medina with A Abidi, and had a much more pleasant and informative trip than with a different tour yesterday. Our walk was earlier than most of the Medina was open at first, which left things unhurried and not crowded, but a tad visually less interesting. Enjoyed going to the olive market, and various specialty areas of the market. Also liked learning about the architecture and history as we went. Made a couple tasting stops and stopped and had tea for a few which was a nice break! Our guide even arranged for the taxi driver to take us to/from the Moroccan Jewish Museum afterwards, which is across town, and back to our hotel, which was super gracious and much appreciated.

This tour is an outstanding way to visit the varied parts of Casablanca in a casual yet comprehensive way. We were welcomed at the starting location them enjoyed hours of wandering, learning, and sight seeing. The tour was partial walking and partial driving with a mint tea break midway and the final activity being a yummy traditional Lunch. Mohammad was a fantastic guide and our taxi driver was just incredible. I can not recommend this your enough!

I was the only person on this tour. My guide was excellent and very informative. He was able to answer all of my questions and impart some very interesting facts. There was time for a few extra stops as I was alone on the tour. Can not thank him and the driver enough for the great tour

Mohammed, our private tour guide, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable, spoke eloquently, and answered all of our questions. He went above and beyond the tour description to show us the popular sights of Casablanca. The pace was very relaxed so we had plenty of time to explore Casablanca’s sights and he was very gracious to adjust the flow of the tour/ rearranged activities in order to optimize our time at each one. Mohammed also arranged private transportation for us and waited for us at each site which enhanced our tour.

Tour and guide far exceeded expectations. We were shown several areas (historic; working class; wealthy) by foot and by car. The lunch restaurant was lovely. The highlight was the Mosque, all the more so as when we entered we were virtually the only visitors and our guide was so happy to share something of his faith. I can’t recommend this tour and guide highly enough.

Excellent Moroccan tour

Our guide was waiting for us exactly as planned and walked with us thru the old part of town stopping at several historical sights including a small museum, tea shop,and the beautiful mosque. He gave us a good understanding of Moroccan history and culture. The tour operator made sure we were brought back to our cruise ship which we appreciated since the port is large. You’ll have a good tour with these people.

It was a great experience walking around Casablanca with Hicham. My fellow tourists and I learned a lot about the history of Casablanca with him as we walked through the old and new medinas and the european district. The mix of walking and driving was also a great way for us to see a lot of the city. He was also very accommodating of our questions and gave good tips for further touring around the city on our own.

Mohamed was my guide Wow ! I use Viator for all my travels and the guide is on my top 2 of best tours and guides in the world ! You get everything listed , he was friendly,professional,safe and showed me things I was interested in (Jewish landmarks) and added it to the tour. The tour was long (hours) and he went above and beyond to give me the best experience and tour of Casablanca. Wish I could post pictures and give a bigger tip . Tour should be more at a higher cost .

Casablanca is a true blend of the old, and the new and modern. I had an amazing tour guide, Abdel Aafif, who showed me both worlds. If you ever find yourself in Casablanca, and want a professional and experienced private tour guide, please check him out through Viator, who uses local tour operator “Intrepid Urban Adventures”, and be sure to ask for Abdel Aafif. He is wonderful, thorough, and speaks impeccable English, plus multiple other languages. You will not be disappointed.

Hicham is a history teacher, incredible tour guide, and now, we view him as our friend. From the outset, he made our comfort and enjoyment his top priority. When we struggled to find the established meeting place, he came to us and altered the starting point of the tour. My guess is that nobody understands the history, architecture and culture of Casablanca better than this man who has lived his entire life there and shared his passion for his birthplace and home. When I shared my husband's Jewish heritage with Hicham, he contacted his friend and caretaker of the first synagogue in the city. We were able to go in and even see the Torah in the Ark. He shared from his heart and his history, the premium placed on respect for one another between neighbors of differing beliefs and cultures, showing us the triangle between the Mosque, the synagogue and the Church within the walls of the oldest Medina. Of course, he took us to the much newer and larger Mosque still in use, explaining not only the temple itself but the members' beliefs, the culture and the reason for various rituals performed by the Muslims who worship there. He answered all of our questions and coontinued to incorporate our interests into the tour he had already planned. At every site, he took photos of and for us for keepsakes, positioning us perfectly for best postcard-like vista in the shot. He even forwarded to us after the fact, historical photos illustrating the lessons that he had taught us. He even purchased (delicious beyond belief) olives for us at the oldest and longest operating olive shop in the market, and then hosted us for mint tea at a lovely table from which the people watching was superb. Casablanca we knew was far more than Rick's Cafe (though I understand the food is great), what we did not know was the extent to which we would love the city thanks to the kindness, professionalism and competence of our guide and friend, Hicham
