What To Expect

After Dubai hotel pickup, travel into the city’s oldest quarters by climate-controlled minivan.

Hear about Dubai’s roots as a fishing port, and enter Deira’s Gold Souk, a covered gold, silver, and platinum market. Peruse the glittering shops before delving into the nearby Spice Souk, absorbing the aromas and colors of the stalls.

Continue to Dubai’s Al Bastakiya heritage area, dating from the 19th century. Hear about the area’s history as an enclave of pearl merchants, and admire the restored wind towers and courtyards. Visit Dubai Museum to chart Dubai’s history further, and then drive to the city’s newer quarters to explore.

See Jumeirah Mosque and the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab, and visit the Souk Madinat, a beautiful recreation of a traditional Arabian souk. Take photos at Dubai Marina and the Atlantis the Palm on Palm Jumeirah, and then pass the Mall of the Emirates on route to downtown Dubai.

Snap pictures of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, from the Dubai Mall waterfront, and watch an early-evening Dubai Fountain show on Burj Lake.

Your tour ends here, with the option to take a return hotel transfer or continue your evening independently, perhaps shopping or dining at Dubai Mall.

Got to see a lot of things with some good explanations of what we were looking at. Much time spent transferring people on and off the bus. No time for lunch during this 7+ hour tour. I suggest anyone going bring snacks. The cultural arts center was more sales job than cultural arts.
