Overview

Winter is coming! Here’s a chance to represent House Stark and roam the grounds of Winterfell on this comprehensive Game of Thrones tour. Visiting several filming locations south of Belfast, guides use video clips and VFX breakdowns to show how scenes were made. Putting on winter cloaks, carrying the Stark banner and wielding a prop sword (all provided), guests will be immersed in the scenic fantasy world of Game of Thrones.

Was amazing getting to see so many iconic spots from the shows, and the guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Full of great stories both from personal experience and with little tidbits about the show and shooting. Added a lot more to the trip than just giving out some info, and the cloaks were amazing, everyone looked great walking around in them. It is a quick pace though, so be ready for the hike or the wildlings may get you.

A must for any GoT fan!

What a fantastic experience! Lar our guide was so knowledgeable and made it so interactive and fun. There is a lot of walking. In total for me it was around 6 miles. So if you aren’t able to walk that, this may not be the right trip for you. Many of the filming locations are not easily accessed by car, so you need to plan accordingly. Wear good shoes and hope for nice weather. Maybe even re-watch a few episodes of the show. I would highly recommend to any GoT fan or someone that just wants a unique experience.

The tour host, Lar was magnificent! He was a Wildling extra on the show and he provided thorough details on behind the scenes on various filming locations. As a bonus, the guy is just hilarious, organized, and pleasant. It's about a 2-hour ride from Dublin to Northern Ireland, but it's barely noticeable because the ride is interactive and fun. This event was my last tour before I left Ireland and I truly believe I saved the best for last. It was a perfect ending to my trip. Thanks to Lar and the King of the Bus! The North Remembers!

None of the places we visit are on the normal tourist trail, this is the only coach tour from Dublin that visits the region you visited on this tour (Co. Down). Amazing Day!

Lar our Wildling Chieftan took us on a serious trek back in time through the Tollymore Forrest. So many amazing spots where many of the season 1 locations were shot. We then had an amazing lunch at the Lobster Pot. (The seafood chowder was so good!) after which we sent to Winterfell. Also a great hike. I personally am not in shape but I did not let the rain, mud & lack of endurance stop me. Definitely know you’ll need a good pair of hiking boots & if it’s raining a good weather proof jacket. I would absolutely do this again. Especially because now I think I’m In the best physical shape of my life from those hikes (joking), but also Lar made the day special with his inside scoops of the filming as an extra.

Hi Jen, Thanks for taking the time to write a breakdown of your experience on our WF Trek from Dublin with Lar as your guide! Yes indeed, it's not exactly a 'trek' but we give it that name to warn about the hour-long GOT locations walks in the morning in the forest and again in the afternoon at Castle Ward - twice, I know! But hey, that's what you gotta do to stand in the real film locations so it's worth it. Proper walking boots are a must on this tour and a jacket for sure, even if it's sunny in the morning it'll change and change back again, and again! If you ever make it to Belfast check out our Iron Islands tour for Stormlands, Dragonstone and Iron Islands locations ⚔️⚔️⚔️

Hi Susan, Thanks for a great review! Yes indeed, last Saturday Nov 11th the tour was delayed at Tollymore Forest Park so by the time you reached the last location, Inch Abbey, night had gathered. Coinicidentally, the famous scene filmed at Inch Abbey was when Robb Stark became King in the North, which was filmed on a November evening 12 years ago! So Inch Abbey at nightfall in November is definitely authentically Thrones. Again, thanks for a great review. The North Remembers ⚔️🐺⚔️

This is my second time doing this tour. It was great to see more parts/experiences were added. Lar was very passionate about GOT and gave great descriptions. At every location we got to see the part of the show it was in. It was so much fun I didn’t notice we walked over 15,000 steps! Lar also took pictures of the group and was able to send them to us. 🚨Do not do this tour is you are not able to walk long distances.
