      Great for taking in the Florence views and seeing some amazing art work

      Amazing walk up to the gentleman’s pavilion for stunning Tuscan views. Walking through the garden gave surprise views of the Duomo and the city. You could spend a day in each gallery, there is so much to see. It is quite intense with so much art work in one place. Make sure to take time to pause as you go round.

      We had to go pick up the tickets from across town, although the voucher lists the address, it should give a warning that the pick up location is not actually near the palace. After we reached the pick up location we had to walk to the Uffizi museum and waited outside the museum for half an hour to get the tickets and then rush back to the palace. We wasted a whole hour in the heat for no good reason.

      First of all, we were a group of 15 and we walked about 2.5 miles from our hotel to the Pitti Palace, only to be told that we should have picked up our tickets about a mile back in the opposite direction. I am 66 years old and just was not up to going back that far and then back to the Palace, so I just went ahead and bought new tickets. Then we found out that the royal apartments were not open that afternoon because they were being cleaned. There was no discount on the ticket even though more than half of the tour was closed. We only found out when we got inside and were looking for the stairs.
