We pick up from all hotels, cruise ship piers, or residences within 20 miles of Waikiki. Pickup time will be 8:30am; you can contact us if you would like a different start time. Starting in 2024, we no longer pick up from the airport, but we can drop you off at the airport at the end of the tour.

Our tour guide had an accent which made it a little difficult to understand him at times and I had to really tune in from the back seat but he carried a great deal of knowledge and history which we appreciated. Why the 5 stars? Because at the beginning of the custom tour we gave him a goal sheet and he made sure to meet every goal. We had a beautiful experience on this full day island tour. Thank you

Our guide J.P. was absolutely amazing! He took us all around the island. We got to see and do everything on our list and more! He was very nice and knowledgeable! We couldn’t have had a better time! We were traveling with our 2 teens, and they loved him as much as we did! Five star tour for sure!!!

Our tour guide was on time but that was about all. Jenny didn't seem to know or understand much about her island. Would answer and talk on her cell phone while driving with NO hands free system. After we would pass something she might say oh back there was this or that. Should have booked an overcrowded tour for way cheaper than this overpriced nothing or better yet just grabbed a map and went on our own would have probably seen and learned more.. oh wait that's exactly what we did. Was very disappointed. Not only will we not ever do this one again we recommend nobody else does this as it was complete waste of time and money.

Aloha, I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your tour. That's surprising because Jennifer K is Hawaiian, born and raised on this island, and attended Kamehameha Schools for Hawaiians, one of the most prestigious schools in Hawaii. She has great reviews from previous tours that she's given. Our tours are priced in tiers by group size to be more affordable; our 4-5 person tour is about $600, so just over $100 a person for a Private, Custom tour. The most recent 4-5 person tour that Jennifer did was 7 days ago on June 12, with pickup at Aulani, which is 40 minutes each way from Waikiki, and we don't charge extra for that. Here's Jennifer's most recent reviews: Awesome tour... Jenny was the best.. took care of us and recommended cool spots to stop... we got to choose what we stopped for and how long. Jenny is great! She took us where ever we were wanted, gave us great advice and made our trip really enjoyable. If you’re looking at doing a tour, choose Jenny as your driver! Thanks again Jenny! Jenny was the best! Took us to local places and ate some great food that we would have never known about without her! Thank you Jenny for making this a trip to remember!! So it is very surprising for her to get a 1-star review. By the name on this review, it looks like your tour was May 1st, 49 days ago. After commission, our company only got $471, so I wouldn't call that robbery for an 8 hour private tour of the island. We also have other great drivers with excellent reviews. We are ranked #6 out of all tours in Honolulu. It's just hard for me to believe that Jennifer would give a tour that deserves a 1-star rating.

An amazing tour of the island. Eddie was the best driver with a ton of local knowledge, history of the island, the Hawaiian people and their culture. Highly recommend the trip to get out of the city and experience a little of Hawaiian life. Eddie was very accommodating and allowed us to customize where we went and how long we stayed. His love of the ocean is contagious and the green turtles showed up right on cue. His suggestions of local favorites were always spot on, with fewer crowds and made the day truly memorable. We had the best time on out private island tour. We made up our own agenda and stopped and spent time where ever we wanted. Dave our guide was just the best and fit right in with our family. Don't waste your time with big tours that don't care about you and treat you and your family to this special way to see they island in style

Tiho, our guide, was a pleasure to spend our day exploring the island with. We relied on him to recommend the must-sees; although being certain we experienced what we wanted. Botanical garden, Coffee farm, macadamia stand, snorkeling by the turtles, food trucks and learning the history of various sites were on the agenda. Great day, would recommend.

Fairly boring tour with an attempt to recruit us at a Mormon Temple ...

This was a bit of a boring tour. It started out pretty good with a visit to the pine tree park, which was awesome and really beautiful. We then made a stop with an amazing view of Waikiki to take pictures. The Dole plantation was fairly interesting as well and we had a great lunch at a shrimp truck. Aside from that, this tour was pretty boring with stops at fairly uninteresting places (coffee place, chocolate "factory", etc.). We also stopped at some Mormon Church/Temple, without even being asked if that would be OK with us from a religious perspective. I was extremely uncomfortable there and felt like I was being recruited. I told our tour guide that I did not like it, after which I was asked if I wanted to watch their video. I said "no" and the guide said "Are you sure?". Is that really appropriate after I expressed my strong discomfort with a Mormon Temple? Our guide (Tiho) was a nice man. He seemed knowledgeable about Oahu and Hawaiian history. However, he delivered this information in such monotonous tone and with awkward pauses that it made it a bit hard to listen. He did take good pictures of us though. Overall, while this tour had a few interesting stops early on, it was generally pretty boring. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy most of it very much.

Thank you for the review and heads up about this situation. I've never heard of our drivers stopping there unless the customer asked. I've had customers that were Mormon that have asked me to stop there, and while I waited in the van for them, I was approached by a group of 3 nice young girls who offered me a chocolate bar. I have spoken to the driver about it. It sounds like he needed to use the restroom and that the people there approached you while he was in the restroom. He just came to us from another tour company and isn't one of our main drivers. Sorry to hear about this and we will work to correct the issue.

Carey, the owner of Custom Island Tour, happened to be our tour guide and driver for our 8 hour Private Tour March 17, 2023 on Oahu. This was a fantastic tour! Carey was very knowledgeable and gave interesting stories on the trip. We were very comfortable in the van and Carey was very helpful in getting to my bucket list items on the island. Our group of four agreed that this was the best excursion we took during our Hawaii land/cruise trip. I would highly recommend Custom Island Tours for a great tour of Oahu.

Good tour, friendly tour guide but costly

We did the custom island tour with the four of us. We started out on the east coast and saw some breathtaking sites, including the beach from the movie “From Here to Eternity.” We then came back through the hills on the H3 and H2 to the Dole Plantation. We got there early enough to avoid the big crowds and took the train ride. It was very informative. We then went up to the North Shore where the surfers were out catching the huge waves. We also saw a couple of sea turtles (~ 50 feet away). We ended the day catching some downtown sites including the King Kamehameha Statue. After that, we were tired, so we called it a day after 6 hours. Eddie was very nice and gave us a lot of good local info. We tipped him generously. The van was very uncomfortable and loud. If we had a more comfortable ride, we may have done another hour or two (up to 8 hours). Also, the value for the tour ($700) was not good. I would have given this review 5 stars if the cost was about $500 or less and if we had a better ride.

Aloha, Depending on where you booked your tour, they may have added extra fees. If you book the tour directly through us, the prices are right on the front page at CustomIslandTours.net or .com, for 4 to 5 people, it’s $600 not $700, which is a pretty good price considering you get the tour van and tour guide all to yourself for 8 hours. I’ve never had anyone say that our vans were uncomfortable. For 4 people, you were most likely in one of our 2017 Ford Transit vans which seat up to 11 customers, so you would have had plenty of room. Eddie is an excellent tour guide and has great reviews here. I’m sorry to hear that your experience wasn’t good enough for a 5 star review. I’m sure that if there was anything else that Ed could have done for you, he would have done it. I reward the drivers for 5 star reviews.

I definitely highly recommend Custom Island Tour. Our guide Eddie was beyond accommodating for our group that had elders and a toddler. We NEVER felt rushed or was told how long we had when visiting a stop which made the private tour even better. I would definitely go with them in a future tour. Thank you Eddie for touring us Alaskan and California visitors. We definitely had a great time and many awesome memories. 🤙
