If you are arriving on a ship or staying at a hotel in downtown Juneau, you will meet outside, under the cables of the Goldbelt Mt. Roberts Tram (490 S Franklin St) at your pick-up time. Find a Coastal Representative dressed in bright orange holding a yellow sign that reads 'Coastal Helicopters' to be checked in. If you are staying at a hotel near the airport, you will be met by a Coastal Representative outside the main doors of the lobby. We will be contacting you regarding your pick up details.

What To Expect

Enjoy convenient pickup from Juneau port’s cruise terminal or meet at a central location, and listen to informative commentary from your driver en route to the heliport. After a safety briefing, board your helicopter for a ride into Alaskan landscapes difficult to reach by vehicle.

Soak up unforgettable views as you fly over icefalls and rock formations. Gain insight into Alaska’s natural history and meteorology from your pilot-guide.

Then, your pilot navigates to Herbert Glacier depending on weather conditions. Touch down right onto the glacier surface. Leave the helicopter and do something few people get to do—take a guided walkabout on a glacier nestled high in the mountains, covered with snow and ice. Your pilot-guide points out notable landmarks and explains the local geology.

Take your final picture of your stellar surroundings and step back aboard the helicopter. Enjoy the bird’s-eye perspective during your return flight to Juneau. Your Juneau shore excursion ends with van transport back to the cruise terminal.

Please ensure to select the correct passenger option when booking your tour. The space inside the aircraft and we want to guarantee everyone will be comfortable in the helicopter. Selecting the improper option or misreporting weight can cause tour delays and cancellations without refund.
No-bag policy. If you have medical needs that require a carry on, please note at time of booking. All bags brought to base will be stored in the tour office until you return from your flight

Dress warmly and in layers, and wear rubber-soled shoes such as a light hiking boot or athletic shoes. The tour company will provide overshoes and can supply raincoats as needed. Remember to bring your camera, film and binoculars!

WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS – Please remember that each passenger will be weighed at our facilities. Be sure accurate weights have been reported and proper passenger types have been selected for each passenger. Misreporting weights or selecting the wrong passenger type may cause tour delays and cancellations without refunds.
ADA - We have an ADA lift that assists guests with getting in and out of the helicopter. If guests use the ADA lift, they will be required to stay inside the helicopter on the glacier. While on the glacier the pilot-guide will open the doors so guests can still take in the sights, sounds and smells. The ADA lift has a weight restriction of no more than 250 lbs. You MUST notify Coastal Helicopters if you will be requiring the ADA helicopter lift. ADA Transportation to and from our facilities provided.
Failure to provide mandatory information will result in cancellation of bookings. You must provide individual weights and pick up location details.
Coastal Helicopters will try our best to accommodate parties/families in the same helicopter. However, we cannot guarantee seating as it is all based on helicopter weight and balance, as well as the other parties within the flight. This will be determined at the time of check in once everyone on the flight has weighed in. Should your family/party be in split into multiple helicopters, the landing will happen together. Please also note that lap children are NOT allowed, and each passenger must purchase a full fare ticket.

This is a once in a life time experience. Amazing views, excellent service from ship to excursion to transfer back to town. Pilot was super sweet making sure we were safe and able to explore. Also other companies cancelled for weather. This one did not.

Absolutely incredible. Anyone uncomfortable with booking an excursion which isn’t direct from the cruise there is no need to worry. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, there is a vehicle that takes you straight to the helicopter and brings you back. The experience was mind blowing, I would highly recommend using this company!

They made us split our family of 4 into 2 helicopters

We reserved the excursion as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids). Since they didn’t have enough space, they split our family into 2 groups (2 of us in one helicopter and the other 2 in another helicopter). Even after pledging that we don’t want the family excursion to be split, they gave us no choice; either split for the excursion or cancel it. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.
