What To Expect

Meet a driver at your hotel in Kuala Lumpur for 9am or 2pm departure, then begin the 30-minute drive to Batu Caves, passing through the colorful Little India neighborhood along the way. Upon arrival at the temple, make your way up the 272 steps that lead to a towering statue of Lord Murugan, then enter the largest cave in the complex.

Inside, you’ll find Hindu shrines and a series of cave temples that draw thousands of worshippers from around the world—outside of the caves, you’ll spot some of the area’s resident monkeys.

After your time at Batu Caves, continue to Thean Hou Temple, a Buddhist landmark dedicated to Mazu, the Chinese Sea goddess. This is also a great place to grab a snack, as the temple is surrounded by a cluster of Malaysian and Chinese food stalls.

The last stop of the day is the National Mosque, an imposing religious building that accommodates up to 15,000 people. Minarets soar to 240 feet (73 meters), and the mosque is surrounded by a 13-acre (5.2-ha) garden traced with picturesque walking paths. This 4-hour tour concludes with return transfer to your Kuala Lumpur hotel.

Cultural tour of Kuala Lumpur

The guide Fouzi was excellent. He communicated multiple times before the pick up and was right on time. He shared a ton of knowledge about Kuala Lumpur and the different cultural spots which were so interesting. Batu Caves was the highlight. I found the whole tour educational and fun. Fouzi was also an excellent driver.

Great morning for this tour. Our driver was really knowledgeable and friendly and shared facts about all the places we visited and along our route. Definitely would recommend going in the morning instead of afternoon, as the humidity was bare able and still managed to do everything whereas I think the afternoon would have proved a challenge.

Alen is an incredible guide. He came to our hotel in a beautiful car dedicated especially for us. We went to the Batu caves, the mosque and the Chinese temple. After that, we asked him if it was possible to change and go to little India instead of chinatown. There, he helped us find and negotiate our traditional Indian dress. She is a kind, pleasant and caring person, I recommend this activity: you will have what you paid for.

Batu Caves and Thean Hou Temple were amazing. If you climb Batu, bring an extra shirt to change to after, but will need more than 45 minutes there. Driver was fantastic. Very friendly and kid friendly, professional, and had great local knowledge.

A tour that you can easily do on your own

I was expecting the driver to actually be a guide and show us around the city. Instead he was really just a driver who basically drove us from point to point. He dropped us off at each site and told us to walk around on our own. Didn't really get the local showing us around experience. We could easily just take a grab and do this on our own. Also the driver took us to two locations for souvenirs. I'm sure he was getting commission for it. Overall i would not recommend this tour. You can just take a grab for the sight seeing locations.

Excellent service from our guide and driver Devan! Would recommend this as a good way to see 3 essential attractions in a short space of time. Devan was very friendly, gave us lots of KL tips in general and provided background to all attractions whilst giving us time to explore ourselves too. Overall we would definitely recommend this. The places were good that I visited, but the tour guide was a half hour late and I didn’t get to go in the National Mosque because it was closed. The tour guide should know the hours of operation and plan the trip accordingly. Very reasonable price.

Our tour guide Aru (if I remember correctly) is knowledgeable about the country’s history. He is also experienced to know how to share that knowledge with his customers. Sorry we have to cut our trip short because we were just way too hungry while waiting. It is a blessing to have someone walk you through a different land.

The sculptures inside the cave at the base of the site are beatiful. The painted steps at the Temple are colourful. A nice, well kept chinese temple and a spacious, grand Masjid Negara.
