Grateful for an enriching journey through Kyoto's Gion district guided by Sho. His expertise and passion illuminated the historic streets, offering insights into the geisha culture and traditions. A truly unforgettable experience! 🌸 We definitely recommend this 90 minute tour.

Would Do Sho's Tour Again

Sho is an excellent tour guide! As a repeat Japan visitor from Hawaii (10 times before), and first time visitors from CA, my friends and I enjoyed this tour of Gion for the first time, and we all enjoyed it very much! Sho tour was about an hour and a half, taking us to many shrines, the main geisha headquarters's office, and sharing a lot of informative information. Although we didn't see any geisha or maiko that night (beyond Sho's control), he tool us to the "backroads" for a better chance to cross paths with a geisha. I especially appreciate Sho keeping his tour limit to 6. This gave each of us (4 in our group) a very personal tour. We passed a couple other walking tours that had over a dozen people! Highly recommend this young man's tour. He's friendly, did a lot of research, and will offer you a great experience! My daughter and her husband are planning a trip in December, and I'll recommend Sho's..tour to them!

Lovely tour guide exploring the 'top' sights

Firstly our tour guide was so lovely and friendly and the cost of the tour was so cheap. He took us to all the top spots and offered to take pictures for us which was great. However, the tour guide did not appear to have great knowledge about the area and about the geishas and meiko (history etc). The information we received was very minimal and when asked questions he often did not know the answer/did not understand the questions. I feel really bad being critical as he was so lovely but I did not feel like I learnt very much about the area. So if you just want guided to the top spots to get some pictures then this tour is for you. However, if you want an in-depth tour exploring the history and current information about the area then this tour is maybe not for you.

Sho was amazing! He was on time and knowledgeable. Took us to spots we wouldn’t have gone by ourselves and taught us the history of Gion. Was a great tour. Highly recommend!

Sho did a great job showing us around the district. He took us through the so called “secret” alleys. He even helped us spot a maiko. Gion is magical by the night with less crowds and we had a great time.

Sho-san gave us a wonderful evening tour of Kyoto Gion area and showcased his local and historical knowledge throughout. We were impressed both with his age and english. We would highly recommend this tour if you want to experience a relaxing (almost tourist free) stroll across hidden streets and shrines while taking magical photos - some of which he took for us!

A peaceful night tour

We had a great time with Sho in the Gion district. He showed us around and shared a lot of interesting history and facts about the area. Because it was evening we couldn’t see everything clearly, but he came prepared with foto’s so we could still get an impression. He was also happy to answer any questions we had. We would definitely recommend Sho to anyone visiting Kyoto.

Sho was a great tour guide, group was small so was a perfect get a lot of attraction shots in a short time plus night time is way less packed and different perspective at night. He also helped us with carry our baby stroller, so very helpful young man.

Sho guided me to famous places and less touristy places. If I had done my own Google research, I would have visited only the places that everyone knows and are crowded. I was amazed at his knowledge as well. It was a wonderful walking tour.

Kyoto walking tour a wonderful and historic experience

The part about this trip was So and his kindness and welcoming spirit. The tour started at an easily recognizable location with So waiting for my arrival. He took me through the Gion section, and had done his research to make sure that I fully experienced the history of the area without running afoul with the new rules restricting photos on private street. I also appreciated that So asked my interests and preferences so we could tailor the trip. For example, his questions lead to a wonderful surprise shrine which was I was not aware of but which was the peaceful experience I desired. So was also very generous with taking photos for me, and provided explanations and insight into what I was seeing to make this trip memorable. This walking tour was a wonderful introduction to Kyoto.

Sho was a great tour guide and this was a private tour which made it extra special. Sho took me to see really beautiful places in Gion including the best places to see the cherry blossoms. The tour was at night so he took me to visit places that were less crowded at my request which I was very grateful for. He knew where to take the best photos, was exceptionally kind and very patient with me, not rushing me along in the slightest. His English was very good and he had a lot of knowledge about Gion and the history of Kyoto. You can tell that he does the job as he loves the area and wants to show people the best parts of it rather than doing it for the sake of it. I learnt a lot and had a really fun experience. This was the highlight of my Japan trip and I can’t recommend Sho enough! Thank you Sho

Best walking tour in Kyoto!

Sho is the best tour guide you could get! He pay attention to details and guide me through language and culture barriers as a first time visitor of Japan. We had a excellent time walking on the street of Kyoto. We also went to parks and temples. If you want to enjoy your time and learn something new, Sho's tour is your best choice in Kyoto!

大阪から京都旅行に来ました。街には人が沢山いましたが、観光客があまり知らない道も案内してもらいました。夜だともっと景色が綺麗で人混みが少ないとのことなので、次は夜のツアーにも参加してみたいと思います。
