One of Japan's designated “three most scenic views,” Amanohashidate is a pine-covered sandbar that connects the two sides of Miyazu Bay. Amanohashidate, which translates to "bridge in heaven," got its name for its beauty: it is said to look like a pathway between heaven and earth.

Very worthwhile day trip to Amanohashidate
The sandbar at Amanohashidate is noted for the sandbar, but the surrounding area is beautiful with some great views from the stop at the end of the cable-car ride. The bus trip there is also very scenic. We also enjoyed the cruise around the bay which provided some lovely views of the coastline and boathouses. Tour guide Lydia was great - very helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Mari the tour guide was great. Nice places, especially the ferry experience to see the boat houses. Lunch was good too.
