Reiko, our guide, was amazing! She met us at the Shinkansen platform and quickly got us on our way. Her extensive local knowledge was evident, and we saw some amazing sights. I highly recommend taking this tour with her. She took awesome care of us and we learned a ton about this amazing city. This is a very extensive walking tour, so make sure you have comfortable shoes.

A momorable journey through Kyoto

The tour company was very fast to respond to questions. Reiko, our lovely guide, is a kind person who took interest in us AND had fantastic knowledge of Kyoto. She guided us deftly and showed us exactly what we had hoped for. She also provided information on where/how/when to go after the tour was over. Our guide Reiko was excellent. Booking the tour helped us save a lot of time (we were in jyoti for one day only). She even helped us find the Arts and Dance show tickets.

Upon meeting Rika at our hotel we were warmly welcomed and asked what we would like to do as she was flexible and willing to cater to our interests(much appreciated!) We decided to head to Yasaka shrine, Yasaka kóshin-dò & Kiyomizu temple via the lively streets of Kyoto. During the journey Rika would inform us of great places to eat, cultural significances of the surrounding areas and the history of the temples. She also made sure to take many photos of us during the journey which she then promptly air dropped to us at the end of the tour. It was great to be able to explore with a local guide who was friendly, well informed and quite the great photographer. If anyone is thinking of booking a local guide to explore the Kyoto region I would highly recommend Rika.

Very nice and informative tour of old Kyoto. The food market was very interesting too. A bit of a shame the tour doesn’t include transfers as the price is quite hefty. Philip was lovely and gave us quite a good insight into Japanese life and culture.
