Hands on chocolate making
NATALYA_K, Apr 2024
Great, informative and fun your with hands on chocolate making. Our guide Caesar was very knowledgeable and attentive. We have learned a lot about medicinal planes growing on the farm. Please note that transportation is not included in the price and could cost you additional $70-$80 for a round trip on a private taxi from LaFortuna.
Funny rituals and plenty of tasting later we are real chocolate experts

Wow. This was an experience! A Tour, thanks to the off-season period, for two, only! We learned a lot about chocolate. The growth, different kinds, the production process towards the desired bar shaped final good and also some nice to know facts about history. Some ridiculous funny rituals and numerous tastings made this afternoon to something unforgettable for us. Nothing to regret. (:
Fantastic Chocolate Adventure

Gem of a Tour
Michelle_V, Apr 2024
We had very little idea of what to expect on this tour. (If you’re in San Jose, the drive to this gem is out of the way but well worth it. Advise you to book your tour earlier in the day so you don’t hit nightfall on your drive back, especially if driving through La fortuna.) But this tour is 5/5 stars. We had the wonderful Yara be our tour guide and she was the sweetest and most knowledgeable person! You’re taken through the forest area, then explained of the process to extract the chocolate and make your own chocolate! Take the time to see this amazing place, and if possible have Yara be your tour guide. Also maybe wear some insect repellent.
Highly recommend!

Very informative providing info on more than just the cacao plant; great person touch by the tour guide; very friendly; and I loved the interaction where we got to make our own chocolate creations, grind God's drink and then make some take home treats. Incredible local small business!
Tasty was to learn about chocolate...
Marianna_J, Apr 2024
We had a wonderful learning adventure on the Eden Chocolate Tour in La Fortuna. We had a vehicle and had no problem navigating to the farm. Our tour was for 9 am and it started right at 9, lasting about 1:45. It started with an informational walk through the farm where we saw different vegetation and the resident sloth! We got to see the various stages of the cacao seed and had fun tasting the seed & the roasted seed (it was quite tasty). The tour ended with tasting & creating our own chocolate goodies. We would highly recommend the tour if you're interested in learning a little more about the history of Chocolate.
Amazing tour and family fun
Felix_E, Apr 2024
Amazing experience, very informative and interactive, highly recommend for families. Our guide yasera was so kind and bubbly and provided us with lots of information and fun facts throughout the very educational tour, we also made our own chocolates being able to mix cocoa with diff toppings. In summary and 10/10.
Great

Highly recommend this stop when picking your chocolate tour. It felt like a small family farm. The guides were great. The tour was fascinating with a bonus that I found a sloth. The chocolate was incredibly good. Fun for the whole family.

The hands on participation. We had our 13 yo twin granddaughters. They loved the whole experience. They like learning about The plantation the tree cultivation and harvest. Making chocolate was a great treat. Highly recommend.

Good excursion to break up the day
Nestor_R, Mar 2024
This was very educational. From the fun of making chocolate to seeing the various animals and flowers it was a good experience. Having it only take a few hours also allows you to not feel totally drained towards the end.
Great tour
Cindy_B, Mar 2024
You can’t really ask for anything more from a chocolate tour. Our guide walked us around the property and we saw some sloths. We saw the chocolate fruit on the tree. We saw how they ferment and dry the seeds. Then my kids hammered a fruit open. We tasted the fruit. Then we made chocolate and tasted different combinations. My favorite was cinnamon and black pepper. We used a bike to grind the seeds and make hot chocolate while our bon bons hardened. There was dancing involved. It was a great tour. Would recommend.
Fun, informative and delicious- with bonus sleepy sloths!
Kathleen_S, Mar 2024
We had so much fun! Our guide sang and drummed us through the process and history of chocolate in Costa Rica, with great storytelling, and she ensured that everybody got to participate at their comfort level. We prepared and ate as much delicious chocolate as we could stomach- which was a lot! We even saw two sleepy sloths! Well worth the fee and highly recommended.
The tour was fun. We all...
Kerrin_M, Mar 2024
The tour was fun. We all enjoyed it however the power went out and we couldn’t eat the bon bons we made because there was no refrigeration. Aside from that one glitch would definitely recommend!
Great experience and chocolate tour!
David_S, Mar 2024
The experience was a lot of fun. The process from harvest to chocolate left a little to be desired, but it was great. If you want to taste various combinations of ingredients with your chocolate and make your own this is definitely the right tour!
Chocoholics Pura Vida!
margaret_p, Mar 2024
Lovely family run farm . Warm welcome and our guide Jerry was very knowledgeable about the cocoa farming process . She even took time to search for the sloth on the farm. Best part of the tour is the fun interactive process of preparing the cocoa to make your delicious treats with unique flavour profiles . If you love chocolate be sure to make time in your itinerary for this tour .
Hands on and tasty!
Paula_L, Feb 2024
Our host was wonderful - upbeat, knowledgeable and fun, we enjoyed the whole experience, but mostly the chocolate prep demo and tasting. The opportunity to create our own flavor profiles was both interesting and fun. An all-around great experience.
