Overview

Explore the Slovenian coast and spectacularly carved UNESCO listed Škocjan Caves all in one day on a day trip from Ljubljana. Visiting both these sites in one day can be difficult on your own, but with this tour you’ll travel straight to the Škocjan Caves, where you’ll tour the one of the largest and most mysterious underground river canyons in the world, before heading to the coast for a visit to the Socerb Castle and the Venetian-style city of Piran.

We had an amazing day and everything according to plan. Our guide had a lot of information about Slovenia and the areas we went to and she was an excellent driver. The caves are stunning and the river at the bottom is awe inspiring. We then took a lovely jaunt through a few areas before ending in Piran which is a picturesque city by the sea. I'd recommend looking up what you'd like to do in Piran in advance but it's a nice place to wander aimlessly also!

Great Tour!

We has a great guide! We were picked up on time in a comfortable mini van at a central location in Ljubljana. We were provided us with lots of history on Slovenia. The Skocjan is something that was out of a movie! It was a very cool experience! The only downside is that photos are not allowed to be taken inside of the cave. Only small groups (12 people) are allowed inside of the cave at a time, which was very nice. Piran was amazing! You feel like you are in small Italian village! Our driver even made a pit stop to the Socerb Castle on the Slovenia and Italy border. Very cool to be in Slovenia but seeing Italy at the same time! Highly recommend this tour!

It was my first time visiting Slovenia and as I was only staying for a couple of days I didn't want to rent a car. The tour had a good itinerary and was well organised. Our guide Damien was helpful and friendly. I loved the caves, the chamber was very impressive! We also had enough time to explore and relax in beautiful Piran.

Definitely worth visiting! The cave is really nice itself, plenty of walking with steps going up & down so make sure you wear good shoes. The city of Piran is small but pretty and easy to walk all around.

Alenka was an absolutely fantastic guide. She was perfectly on time at the meeting point, very friendly, and since the tour ended up only having 3 people booked that day, she really went out of her way to personalize the trip for those of us who did the tour. There is a lot of driving involved but it went really quickly. The caves are amazingly beautiful and Piran was gorgeous. She got us to the caves with time for a coffee before showing us exactly where to be to join the larger group tour and was waiting for us when we exited the caves. Once we arrived in Piran, she made a few great suggestions for food, gave us ample time to explore the city on our own, and even went the extra effort to check in on us by text to make sure we were all okay before meeting her back at an arranged spot for the drive back. Would highly recommend this tour!

The tour was changed from the original date, but this did not worry us. We were flexible. We were picked up punctually and as it turned out we were the only 2 on board. Our guide as a delight who generously shared so much information about the area and who went out of his way to show us more than what was on the itinerary. He was very knowledgeable about the area. We really enjoyed his chat about local wines and his love for his country was evident. The Skocjan caves are extraordinary. We have never experienced anything like them before. Well worth the visit. Piran was a delightful little seaside town. We enjoyed exploring the old town and surrounding area. We picked up a quick sandwich as we chose to look around, however you have enough time to enjoy a great lunch around the town. A great tour. Thank you

Super experience.. Must do with Branco!! He was knowledgeable, friendly and fun and made the tour special for our group!! The caves were magnificent as was the walk afterwards… prepare to walk fairly quickly while on the caves. The visit to Piran was so breathtaking and relaxing!! Bravo!!

Not enough time in Piran

The Skocjan caves were worth seeing if you haven’t been to any other cave system in Slovenia. There is a concrete walkway for most of the trip with some sections of stairs. The rock formations were outstanding. The main purpose of our trip was to see Piran but we didn’t get there until 2.10 pm without a coffee break even though we were picked up at 8.30. This meant we only had 2 hours to explore and have lunch. It was just about impossible to explore the castle and the town in this time. Piran is beautiful and worth a visit. If you are in Ljubljana I suggest you take a regular bus straight there. Our driver/guide was helpful and informative but simply did not leave us enough time in Piran.

Scojan Caves and Piran

Scojan Caves were very impressive, but disappointing that you couldn’t take photos for safety reasons. You certainly need to be fit to do this tour: a 2.5 km walk with numerous steps up and down. Piran is a beautiful medieval coastal city that is is ideal for a leisurely meal and walk around the narrow streets.

Both activities were well worth it. Quite a bit of walking to the, and through the cave, so people should be aware as some with mobility issues decided to turn back at the cave entrance. Thomaz was our great guide and full of helpful information.

Skocjan cave is something out of this world. I never expected it ti be so beautiful. Piran is a beautiful town with blue water. Our guide Nina was terrific. She gave us a little extra time to enjoy a nice lunch.

The Skocjan Cave was even more mesmerising than the Postojna Cave in every sense. Piran is like a mini Dubrovnik & is worth a visit, albeit not for too long. We were also lucky to have Brancko as our tour guide for 2 consecutive days, as he's just a true Slovenian gem!
