What To Expect

Greet your guide outside of the Prado Museum 10 minutes in advance of your entry time.

Your guide takes you to the museum’s highlights, all the while delivering commentary that contextualizes the art and allows you to appreciate minute details. Marvel at masterworks such as The Annunciation by El Greco, Hieronymus Bosch’s The Garden of Earthly Delights, and Las Meninas by Velazquez, noticing their refined composition and style.

Then, proceed to the Reina Sofia Museum, dedicated to Spanish art of the 20th century. Surreal scenes and cubist masterpieces by luminaries such as Dali, Picasso, and Miro abound here. A great cultural day in Madrid

This was a terrific two part tour. Our guide Helena Del Pozo spoke excellent English and, most importantly, brought the art to life with her amazing knowledge and understanding of the art and artists. We loved both tours. The meeting point was also very easy to find and Helena was right there waiting for us too. We appreciated that a lot. If there was any downside to the tour it was that Helena had to give a simultaneous translation at the Reina Sofia (English and Spanish) which meant some delays between rooms. Still both tours were well paced and interesting.

Great guides and Museums however a lot of time was spent waiting for people. I understand the challenges - no one’s fault. Next time would only do one museum at a day.

Elena was knowledgeable, inviting questions and answered quite concisely. She brought context and history to the pieces viewed. Too many persons were included in the tour at Reina Sofia. The language in both English and Spanish made the tour at Reina Sofia tedious. Elena did her best to keep everyone everyone engaged.

Voice box problems for...

Voice box problems for half an hour didn’t help beginning but saw a lot. Participants dropped out along the way due to crowd at museum. Should mention no food or beverages in bags before tours. Many had to toss their waters.

Great tour, worth the money

Knowledgeable and very nice guides. Experience could have been better if Reina Sofia tour was just in English to make the tour 1 hour shorter. Our legs and feet were tired and there was very little opportunity to sit. We were impressed in spite of the crowd, our guide Andrea noticed a member was missing. Alex, our guide for Reina Sofia switched back and forth between English and Spanish, and did a great job.

Don’t do 2 museums in one trip

Skipping line took us almost an hour. I understand that security got stricter, but I am sure with good planning it could be much faster. We were lucky it was not raining. Prado guide’s English was a little hard to understand. We passed so many amazing works and because of second tour were not able to come back and enjoy the exhibition. After guessing instructions where to meet, we run to the Sofia. Stood outside for another hour before to get in. Tour guide was standing in front of each painting for 20 minutes, because had to tell same story in Spanish then translate it to English. It was sooooo long and chaotic, I was feeding like one of the Picasso late painting 😱

Don’t do tours in 2 languages.

Guide was poor. It was 2 language (we were expecting just English) and he was slow and disordered. Doing it in 2 languages didn’t help and the group was large. It added very little. But he did add a new perspective to geurnica for which I am grateful

Able to understand "perspective "of the classics . Very knowledgeable guide. Very knowledgeable guides at both Prado and reina Sofia. Too hurried. First guide did not mic and was soft spoken. Often unable to hear him.

Disappointed

I appreciated the art knowledge of our English speaking tour guide. She clearly knew her subject matter. My disappointment with the tour is how they rushed as off after the first half. We were given the incorrect for the Sofia portion and missed the tour. The senior tour guide seemed more concerned about serving the Spanish speaking part of the group.
