What To Expect
An easy day trip from Melbourne or the Yarra Valley, the Yarra Valley is home to beautiful rolling hills and heritage vineyards renowned for excellent chardonnay and pinot noir. Begin your full-day gourmet tour with pickup at your Melbourne hotel, and then relax on the drive to the valley. For your first stop, visit the family-run De Bortoli Winery to taste a selection of award-winning wines served with local and international artisan cheeses.
Continue on to visit local wineries in the region and feel free to ask questions about the winemaking process as you sample each estate’s offerings. After working up an appetite, make your way to a winery restaurant for a delicious 2-course lunch paired with a glass of wine. Enjoy fresh regional produce and cuisine among a beautiful atmosphere with vineyard views.
Next, stop in at Coldstream Hills Winery for another cellar door tasting and tour of ‘amphitheater’-style vineyards built on hillsides.
Enjoy the scenic return drive to Melbourne, where you are dropped off back at your hotel in the early evening at the end of your tour.

Our guide, Billy, was cheery and jovial. He set up a nice atmosphere for us to get to know everyone else on the tour. It was a small group of 6 people, and we ended up having so much fun together. Billy has been "around the world a couple of times and maybe more", so had so much to tell us about Melbourne and the Yarra Valley with a worldly view. The selected wineyards were all good with a broad selection of wines, and goes with the beautiful settings to enjoy them with lovely company. Lunch was absolutely gorgeous, both courses were delicately prepared with plenty of choices to choose from. I went with my husband, and it was exactly what we wanted and more...a nice day out in the Yarra Valley to enjoy wines without the hassle of having to drive.

DeBortoli was a great wine and cheese pairing event. EXCELLENT. Friendly, amicable, nice wines. Ferguson Winery the lunch was good but the tasting with lunch was sporadic/odd and the glass of wine with lunch never materialized. The servers seemed to not know how to deal with our group as they had an Easter menu/party going on so we were a bit neglected. Last winery Charon…we started late due to another group running long and then tasted 5 sparkling wines in 15 minutes…we were rushed…even our driver was a bit shocked when we came out so fast. Again, it seemed to be that the winery was overwhelmed by the Easter crowds.
The scenery was beautiful, the driver was prompt and knowledgeable. Unfortunately the van was a bit dirty/grimy. Bottled water would have been a nice gesture while traveling.

Doesnt sound like you had the experience we like to provide which is a shame. It is not ideal to feel rushed or not looked after at wineries so I'm sorry you had this experience. I'll remind guides to offer water if you can't see it in the van and we always encourage you to drink water offered at wineries. All the best with the rest of your travels

The bus was old and uncomfortable.
The tour felt rushed. The lunch was average. The first and last vineyards we enjoyed the wines. The vineyard where we had lunch, the wines were average.
We did a yarra valley wine tour 15+ yrs a go and it was excellent, so we were hoping for the same. We also did a few wine tours in SA two years ago, and they put this tour to shame. Disappointed .

Doesnt sound like you had a fabulous day, allthough the first and last wineries, I'm assuming De Bortoli and Chandon provided nice wines so happy about that. It's not great feeling rushed and we try and find the balance, usualyy succeeding into getting to venues on time and providing a well paced and relaxed experience. Sounds like we really didn't deliver to your expectations. Happy travels for the rest of your journey

Nicci & team were amazing in helping us to organise our wine tour with extended family in the Melbourne area. No question or problem was too much & overall it was a super Wine Tour, experiencing the different Wineries & the stories behind them was great. We would definitely recommended !

A great trip with our guide, Bill. The stops were beautiful, the wines covered the range. The lunch with a wine tasting was excellent. Can highly recommend this tour given our small group of 6.

Hi Lorraine, The survey is a default from TripAdvisor. You should only fill them out if you want to share your experience. I also think this review may be for the restaurant with the same name and not the tour business. Too much food annoys me too, ask to take some home :)
