What To Expect

This private New Delhi sightseeing tour kicks off at your hotel, where you meet your friendly guide and travel in air-conditioned comfort to Bahai Temple. Known by locals as the Lotus Temple because of its ornate exterior that looks similar to this iconic flower, this religious structure has a rich history that your guide will share as you tour the grounds.

Next, venture to Qutub Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its towering spire stands some 238 feet (73 meters) making it the tallest minaret in all of India. Wander the grounds and meet up with a famed fortuneteller who carries a pet parrot and have the opportunity to have your future predicted (at your own expense).

After learning about this impressive mosque from your expert guide, head to the eclectic Dilli Haat. This open-air craft and food bazaar offers a true taste of local life. Enjoy lunch (included) from one of the many permanent food stalls and then comb through the market where your guide can serve as a translator between you and vendors. Dilli Haat is filled with camel-skin footwear, rosewood carvings, rocks and gems, and other handmade items.

Pass by some of the city’s top sites on your drive back to the hotel. See India Gate—built to commemorate soldiers who died in WWI—and the presidential house from the comfort of your vehicle. Stop for photos at any of the attractions, which also includes the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Humayun’s Tomb, where the Mughal Emperor Humayun is laid to rest.

Complete the day with your complimentary souvenir before returning to your hotel. Ladies will experience the art of mehndi (henna tattoo) and the men’s heads will be wrapped in a traditional pugree (turban).

My guide was both informative and fun! I loved having both a guide and a driver. It made the trip very easy since I didn't have to worry about getting tickets, which line to wait in, where to park, how to get there, etc. I recommend Viator to anyone visiting India.

A great tour that had amazing design architecture and history. The guide was very pleasant and knew the stories behind the sites and Delhi well. Although not much at Dilli Haat and the lunch could be better, the overall tour very good and well worth it.

I did this tour on the Independence Day. So it was a holliday and I could not visit the Lotus Temple. Besides that the excursion took only until 1.00 PM, and they said it would be until 5.00. Maybe should visit others places to fill the day. They did not stop in any souvenir shop and I bought some in airport.

The driver and guide were on time to pick me up from my hotel. The first half of the day went well. I got to see the Lotus Temple and the Qutub Minar Complex. But that was all. No lunch, and no visiting of "Peruse local handicrafts and sample traditional eats at Dilli Haat, a colorful bazaar, Experience Delhi through the eyes of a local with the help of your friendly expert guide" as the package detailed. So it was only a half say tour while I paid for an entire day. By 1:00 PM I was back in my hotel, very disappointed.

The guide was fabulous. The driver handled the traffic well. We enjoyed each site at our own pace. Even the lunch was good. Thanks!
