What To Expect

Meet your certified New Orleans guide in the heart of the French Quarter and make your way through the historic neighborhood on foot.

With historical ties to Voodoo, or Voudou, in New Orleans, your guide shares insider knowledge of this folk religion that mixes African- and Haitian-based magical elements with Catholic rites. En route, stop by the New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum and browse for potions and protection spells at Marie Laveau’s House of Voodoo.

You'll also stop at a Voodoo temple and hear the history of Congo Square. No family in history had a greater impact on Voodoo than the Laveau family, and no place in the world had a greater impact on Jazz than Congo Square.

Carlos was the best tour guide ever. He was super knowledgeable about the culture of voo doo. He was patient as well because once you get into the shop you will take time there. Please be prepare to walk and bring water with you. Other than that I definitely recommend this tour

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour with Orion, our guide. I especially appreciated that this tour was specifically focused on history and culture, rather than on trying to tell spooky stories. I know that's what a lot of people want, and more power to you if that's your thing, but I appreciated learning more about the Voodoo culture and how it shaped New Orleans. There were certainly elements of the tour that were on the grim side, but that's because history is sometimes grim. Orion didn't shy away from these elements, but he also didn't try to sensationalize them, which was exactly what I wanted. Highly recommended if you want to learn more about what's really behind the pop culture version of Voodoo and Marie Laveau.

Orion was a great tour guide! I appreciated him sharing his personal experience before the start of the tour, throughout the tour you could tell he has an appreciation and respect for the history of voodoo. I also liked that the tour also included an overview of the complex history (e.g. religion and racial history).
