Your full-day tour begins at Port Authority, where you’ll board a comfortable minivan or bus and meet your guide. Then, travel along the scenic Connecticut coast and through inland countryside on your approximately 4.5-hour journey to Boston.

Get a taste of Ivy League prestige with a stop in Cambridge to tour highlights of Harvard University, including Harvard Yard and the massive Widener Library. You’ll also drive by the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Cambridge College.

After crossing the Charles River into Boston, see local landmarks like Trinity Church and stretch your legs with a stroll along the 2.5-mile (4-kilometer) Freedom Trail. This commemorative path takes you to 16 sites that played a pivotal role in the American Revolution. We can not recall the name of our tour guide, she was a lovely German lady who was well read and travel which enabled her to give a good understanding of Boston and the history. While Quincy Markets was busy, it was great to see. There were adequate rest breaks at clean locations. Really enjoyed the opportunity to see Boston in 1 day.

The tour was in English and Italian, so the tour guide Carlo tried to make most of it. But we (the English speaking were the fewer) had to run in order to listen... The bus had no wifi, not in very good condition, the driver was not that careful... Boston was lovely but the tour was very average.

Speed tour

Tour was too hurried. Harvard speed walk, library same. Pilgrims trail too. Quincy Market just about okay and time to eat. Boston tea party rooms, no time to sit and drink tea. Just 15 minutes from coach and back. 6.30am start from NYC return 8.30pm a couple of comfort breaks on the journey. Disappointing

Quincy market , tea company . Everything so rushed and not enough time given only 15 minutes from the coach back to the coach to see the tea company, go to the toilet, get a drink or gift , had to choose between them because of time . The guide gets off coach and begins to walk off while the people still getting off the coach .

It’s a tour that gave an overview of Boston proper and Harvard. I’m glad I did the trip because it was enough information for me to know about the city so no need to come back. I wish we had time to do the Boston Tea Party museum tour which for me was the best thing about the tour ( we only had time allocated to go in the gift shop).. The tour was made up of mostly non English speakers so the interaction was minimum. But the two tour guides made the best of it.

Driver of the vehicle was smoking weed at every opportunity.

The driver of the van was smoking weed the whole duration of the trip. Each time we stopped somewhere and returned to the van the whole vehicle was smelling of weed. We were also in the middle of a snowstorm and the journey was long. I since checked and note this behaviour is illegal. Travel company deny this happened but we and the other 2 travellers noted it. Completely unacceptable and have been given no apology or compensation and simply told to send more evidence... I have none but feel this is not correct that their driver can operate a vehicle with people in it this way. By the time we were on the way home he could hardly keep his eyes open. Nice trip if the travel was safer.

Day trip to Boston

I enjoyed this tour it was great. My tour guide was very knowledgeable, I forgot his name but everything was great. I just need to invest in a portable charger, I was so use to the buses having outlets that I felt no need to get one until my trip. We went by van because it wasn't a lot of us and the van was nice, comfortable and very clean but other than not being able to charge my phone, the trip was fabulous.

Boston in a nutshell

This trip gives a good overview of Boston so that you can return one day to explore it in more detail. Be prepared to be in a van for 8-9 hours. The actual sightseeing duration is about 4 hours including a lunch break. Because of the long distance, the tour does feel a bit rushed. This tour needs to have a more detailed itinerary to set expectations right from the start. The van is quite uncomfortable, blasting cold air that may make you ill and would suggest having some music on. It would be better to have one language only and ensure guides try a bit harder being enthusiastic and speak clearly.
