My trip to Japan has been a dream for me since I was a little girl. I finally made it here for my 50th birthday with my mom and cousin. From the start, we were thoroughly impressed with our tour guide, Kai, and her impeccable service. She was knowledgeable and attentive. She genuinely cared about our desires and had a customized itinerary that perfectly addressed our needs, provided excellent recommendations to fit within our schedule, and answered all our questions. Our driver Ken (maybe misspelled) was on time and readily available after each attraction. From beginning to end they both went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. My experience was nothing short of spectacular. I’d give them 100 stars , if I could. I cannot thank Kai and Ken enough for truly making my birthday special and our experience an unforgettable one. I highly recommended this tour.

NOT WORTH PAYING. Don't book this. THE WORST PRIVATE TOUR!

I will enumerate all the bad experiences we had. This tour is NOT WORTH it. This was supposed to be a customized tour based on the client's preferences but it did not happen. They also should include that there is an english guide named Lyle, who did not know anything about the places because most of the time he was silent. We paid around 900 usd for 4 pax on this private tour and this is what we got: 1. The tour operator (Dalivanh) sent me an email asking us where to go, what to eat and even asked if we need reservations for the restos. However, after 3 or more responses, they did not respond about the final itinerary, so we had no idea to where were going and where will we eat. 2. Money was not an issue, but we were not aware that the guide was included in the restaurant booking and it was not stated in the viator website. We paid for the tour guide's food. We were not informed. The funny part was, he ordered the most expensive meal that day with us. 3. The english speaking guide (LYLE) knew nothing about the places. I didn't understand why he was there. If you're a guide, you should know the history of the places. 4. The guide (Lyle) was always in a hurry. On our initial itinerary, we were supposed to go to Nishiki Market but he said there were too many people so we just passed by it and the worst part is, he also told us that we were too many as a group. How can he comment like that? It was on their website that the maximum is 4 pax and now he's telling us that we were many? They shouldn't have put 4 people max if they just complain. Its very unprofessional. 5. It was stated that you can customize but in reality, the guide will decide for you. He only led us to the entrances of some places and then took a few photos and then we left. We were not able to go inside or visit the inside. For what we paid, it was really not worth it. I cant believe that this happened to us. We felt cheated. This was the worst "private, customized tour" that we have ever booked. The sad thing was we did not get to see more of the places in the itinerary which was advertised as 19 places. I understand that you cannot see all 19 places but our experience was the worst. I trusted VIATOR because of the private tours they offer and our last private tour in Vietnam was perfect. The guide was very knowledgeable and really showed us around. No B.S. I don't recommend this private tour because this tour operator cannot fulfill what's included in the tour and the tour guide did nothing, no explanation of the places. All he did was to hurry us up. Don't book this tour please. This is full of false advertisment. You pay more for nothing.

Shinji-san was a wonderful guide and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Very comfortable car, and such thoughtful touches - umbrellas provided, lots of photos taken of us (we were even presented with little polaroids at the end of the tour!) We saw highlights of Nara and Kyoto. Will definitely be back.

Very difficult to maneuver as driver spoke almost no English even though tour advertised as having English speaking driver. Vehicle not same as advertised. Driver 20 minutes late picking us up in am, also after first stop.

Helpful Kyoto Driver Guide

Taca is a wonderful driver and very accommodating to his passengers. We were able to spend more time at sites we liked and eliminate sotes we weren't interested in, which made for a more personalized tour. We made an unscheduled stop at a pharmacy and Taca helped us translate to the pharmacist the type of medication we were looking for. To help overcome the language barrier, he used an app on his phone for clarity. All in all, a memorable day of touring in the Kyoto area.
