What To Expect

Meet your guide at the entrance to the Pompeii archaeological site called "Porta Marina Superiore."

While other tourists struggle with maps, follow your archaeologist guide to the top sights. Spend more than two hours exploring the open-air ruined city, enough time to see the Forum, the Stabian Baths, the House of the Faun, the plaster casts of Pompeiian villagers, and many other preserved buildings.

After a short lunch break (own expense), take a 30-minute ride on the Circumvesuviana rail to the ruins in Herculaneum. On arrival, skip the ticket lines and explore the archaeological site with your guide for about 1.5 hours.

Visit at least eight of the main preserved ruins. Your day ends with drop-off at the Ercolano Scavi train station.

Best tour and experience for Pompeii and Herculaneum

We had Paolo as our experienced guide and archaeologist. This was the best tour and experience. Paolo was very knowledgeable - he brought the ruins to life with science & fact, and despite the rainy weather we got to see and learn a lot. Pompeii and Herculaneum as one tour was a good option. Highly recommend this tour to everyone. The small size group was perfect.

Rafael was so so great - super funny and knowledgeable! The shuttle was comfortable, there was a perfect amount of walking. A break in the middle for lunch. You could spend hours in Herculaneum or Pompeii so I highly recommend this tour as a means to see the beautiful highlights with someone explaining the cultural significance. Great job Rafael

Alessandra was an incredibly informative guide and could answer every question about the history, archeology, and culture of Pompeii and Herculaneum. The tour was well paced and not too strenuous - there’s a lot to see and she selected just enough to give a comprehensive picture without being overwhelming or exhausting. It was really an awe inspiring experience. Bring a hat and sunscreen even if you think it’ll be cloudy!

We were a little disappointed with this tour. We only spent 1.5 hours at Pompeii and 1.5 hours at Herculeum. Once we exited Pompeii we were given an hour free time to have lunch but I would have preferred to have this free time doing further exploration of Pompeii as there were some key landmarks that we did not get to see. The area immediately outside Pompeii is not very nice with cheap souvenirs and average restaurants. Our guide was knowledgeable but he had a dry sense of humour and at times during his explanations, it was hard to know if he was joking or not. This tour was really expensive and I don’t think it offered good value for money compared to other tours we did in Italy.
