Excellent tour with a caveat

5 stars for the tour guide and driver. Luciano, the guide, was an excellent source of knowledge who really brought Pompeii to life, showcasing the best of it. The driver was also great. 1 star for Viator. This tour is not 8 people maximum. The minibus to the ruins is 8 people maximum but the group was 18 people. Luciano did a great job managing this amount of people round the ruins but if you specifically want a smaller guide to tourist ratio, this is not the one for you. This is down to Viator, not the tour group/guide.

Our guide Diego has a plethora of knowledge about both Pompei and Herculaneum, which he imparted with enthusiasm and cheerfulness. We saw SO much in both locations, and he made sure we saw both the “popular” sites and numerous other “off the beaten track locations.

Our tour was very good and managed well by our tour guide. Pompeii and Herculaneum were exceptional places to tour.
Enjoyed both locations, but Herculaneum was our favorite due to significantly more artifacts left intact..

Our guide Paulo was creative in his instruction & guidance. He obviously was well versed & experienced in the history of Pompeii, but was never boring or pompous.

Pompeii & Herculaneum Tour Was a Hit for Our Family

I was particularly pleased that the tour included an archeologist for the parks, as well as a driver. Both were excellent. Our archeologist was very knowledgeable and covered all of the sites I wanted to see at both locations. She was most fluent in English, was easy to understand, and had a very pleasant personality. I became very fatigued at Herculaneum and was unable to complete the tour with the rest of my family and the driver helped me back to the van, cooled the vehicle, and gave me water--all of which was most welcomed. Our family loved this tour. I would highly recommend it and the Askos Tour company.

Our guide Antonio's passion for his subject and wide knowledge and good humour brought the stories of Pompei and Herculaneum to vivid life. Askos tours were efficient and friendly. Viator were helpful when some of the booking instructions were unclear.

Bottom line: a great day and great tour of both sites. Amazing! You have to see both sites with a guide! Tour guide: Michael was our guide. He was great. He is very knowledgeable and passionate. We thought his English was great and he spent the appropriate amount of time at the various spots without overwhelming us. I can’t imagine seeing either place without him or someone equivalent. Driver: Guiovanni was our driver. He was excellent. We felt safe the whole time. The expressway actually got completely closed to an accident. It put us behind but the drivers were excellent in mitigating the problem. Tour: the tour got delayed due to an accident on the expressway but they juggled things to do Herculaneum first, followed by Pompeii. In the end, we didn’t miss anything. They communicated via WhatsApp if someone was missing. They were very organized. 3hrs at each site with a break for lunch is perfect. We were all tired by the end at both sites. It was 24 degrees and sun-filled. You also need some stamina and ability to do some stairs and slopes. We had 2 people in our group that were mid 60s and had some mobility issues and they struggled more than everyone else. Don’t lie to yourself - if you can’t walk on uneven surfaces with stairs or inclines for 3 hrs at a time in the hot sun, think twice. Sites: I loved Herculaneum best and my family loved Pompeii more. Herculaneum is far more “intact”. Pompeii is massive. To me this is the perfect tour because you get both. One without the other would be disappointing. 3 hrs at each site is perfect.

Our group was guided by Francesco who was a wealth of information and knew both sites extremely well. When he saw lines of people at things he wanted us to look at, he knew where to find an alternative exhibit. He was really focussed on ensuring we saw as much of the sites and the most important parts. Some of the group thougt hey were being rushed but we wanted to see as much as we could in the time frame we had. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone

We had an amazing time on this tour. Our guide, Vince, was an excellent, engaging, knowledgeable tour guide. He had earpieces for the group so that we could all hear him easily. The minibus taking the small group from Naples was clean and air conditioned - a definite plus in 35C heat! Pompeii and Herculaneum are well worth the trip and I would recommend Askos Tours if you are thinking about visiting.

Sergio was an excellent, knowledgeable guide; packed in so much information of Pompeii and Herculaneum in a brief time; Fulvio was an exceptional driver; the vehicle was clean, modern and AC worked great; restaurant for lunch stop (customer expende) was delicious and reasonably priced. Highly recommended, unforgettable tour.
