What To Expect

Depending on your hotel's location, your pickup time will be between 7am and 9am; see 'Additional Information' for details. Be ready with a swimsuit and towel for pickup in an air-conditioned van, leaving from Puerto Plata.

After about 30 minutes' drive, arrive at the 27 waterfalls of Damajagua. Disembark for a short hike (about 30 minutes) uphill to the top of the falls; then swim, jump, and slide down the natural cascades. The National Park requires children to be 8 years or older to explore the upper cascades, small children can swim in the lower cascades with supervision.

Back in the truck, returning to your Puerto Plata hotel for drop-off.

In the waterfalls you need runners or closed-toe shoes that can get wet. Rubber shoes are available for rent for US$2

Only two small jumps and 3 slides that were only 4 feet in length. Not what I was expecting at all. Extremely disappointing.

Dear Kelly, To be honest your review confuses me a lot. You've booked the Waterfalls Adventure as single activity for June 22nd for a group of 4, traveling together with another group of 7 booked under Steven. The group of 11 was staying at the Presidential Suites in Cabarete and booked for Puerto Plata Pick up, which does not include transportation from Cabarete, however we decided not to charge the $10 transfer fee for person and scheduled your pick up (saving $110). You went directly to the Waterfalls and after that stopped at our park as you wanted to purchase lunch additionally and spend some time there. You and your group were very happy and even brought your own JBL speaker, listening to loud music in the restaurant, which was no bother as there were no other guests during that moment and everyone was having a good time. One of our guides, Rafael, spend most of the time with you and the group at the restaurant and entertained everyone. He introduced me to you and we were chatting about your fabulous time in Germany. At no time did you tell me (knowing that I'm the owner) or Rafael anything negative about the excursion. If you were really unsatisfied with the excursion, we would have wished you've mentioned something to us in person. Maybe we could have made it right at the moment you were at our park. I had a blast. First, we hiked up a mountain, then got to eat fresh mango from one of the park's trees. Afterwards, we hiked down and reached the waterfalls. This excursion will leave me with a lasting memory. I will definitely be back.

This adventure is something you must see. Water shoes work very well and house clothes. Also be prepared for a 25 minute uphill hike. You climb up the mountain to get to the falls. It's worth it but you need to brace yourself for that hike.

Overall a very good tour. Make sure that you are prepared for the hike to the beginning of the falls. We highly recommend doing the tour. Guides are good at the waterfalls. You probably should wear tennis shoes to go through the waterfalls. Water shoes really don't protect your feet on the walk. The company that we booked through was okay. However, there was a lot of confusion as to how to navigate getting checked in and the company we booked through was little help. After we went through the waterfalls, there was a lot of confusion by the booking company and we had to wait around for a long time. Finally, they took us back in a van to their site. On the booking company's website, it says that you will be transported by air conditioned bus. However, it was the back of an open truck.

The waterfalls are awesome probably a little over marketed as I'm sure there isn't 12 waterfalls as advertised - maybe 7 or 8 only washrooms available when you start so 90 mins later...
