Introduction to Quito and wonderful lunch!

While the cable car was the expected highlight the lunch stop at a local market made the trip memorable. So very good and fun to see the activity in the market. Hugo spent quite a bit of time learning about what we liked so he could pick the right spot. Well done.

Ximena was a fantastic guide for our first day in Quito! She was friendly, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. We started the day with the cable car and breathtaking views of Quito, then leisurely explored Quito Old Town including a delicious lunch followed by a chocolate tasting. We then visited the Virgin of Quito statue before ending our day climbing the towers of Basílica del Voto Nacional. She helped us to customize our private tour and gave excellent recommendations. We had a great time with Ximena and we can’t thank her enough for sharing her beautiful and vibrant city with us.

Brilliant day with Xmena, our guide. Started at the magnificent Basillica & climbed the tower by 9.30am 😁 What a building!! Beautiful views. Next stop the gondola to the top overlooking Quito - 4,000m up 😊 Slowly, slowly up to the viewpoint & the swing. Great experience 😁 To the old town & a delicious lunch at la Capilla (cerviche is a must!!), informative wander round the old town & up to the Virgin Mary statue. Great views 😊 Xmena was great, informed & knowledgeable & good company. We met a guide & left a friend 😁 A brilliant day.

We were unable to take cable car due to malfunction earlier in the week and instead went to a large local market. Think that was the highlight of our time in Quito.

Ximena was a great guide--very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. She knew a lot of details like where to park, where to eat, etc. which made the day much more efficient and enjoyable. I was nervous about going out and about in Quito because all I had heard about street crime and such. I would not have been comfortable doing all of these activities alone or as a couple, but I felt safe with a guide who knew what she was doing--she knew what streets to avoid, etc.

Fantastic tour of Quito

We’d already had a tour of Quito with Celebrity Cruises, but wanted the more personal touch. This is a fantastic tour - great guide who gave us so much information (they have to study 3/4 years to become a tour guide). We were so lucky with the weather, saw some amazing sights and lunch was in a beautiful restaurant. Highly recommend.

Hugo was an experienced, friendly, knowledgeable, professional guide who was genuinely fun to spend the day with! We learned so many interesting facts about the city and about Ecuador’s history as we walked around. Hugo went at our pace (and even stopped when we had to catch our breath). The middle of our tour took us up to see El Panecillo, the breathtaking statue and guardian Virgin Mary of Quito. At the end of our tour we travelled on the cable car and it was a perfect ending to a beautiful day!

Miriam was a fantastic guide on this tour. She shared interesting facts about Quito and was flexible, accommodating and simply fun to spend the day with. The view from the mountain was wonderful, and the route that she planned in the old city included the most beautiful churches. We also enjoyed the visit to the chocolate factory store with chocolate tastings. Highly recommended!

Luis is a fantastic tour guide. Our day began with Teleferico ride over 13,000 altitude plus a lovely hike even a bit higher to enjoy the natural environment, geography and clear fresh air. We next traveled to the tall Virgin of Quito statue stopping to see probably the last shepherdess tending her sheep while sitting in the grass spinning wool! Amazing! Our tour was fortunate to be scheduled during day of the dead festivities and we were able to visit crypts and sample traditional drinks and breads prepared by the novice monks for the occasion. Luis was knowledgeable, flexible and assured we got our value for the tour.

Carlos was my very knowledgeable guide. He was like an encyclopedia on not only Quito and Ecuador but about other parts of world history and current events that have or are impacting Ecuador. He was patient and responsive to all of my questions. I skipped the Cable Car tour because it was cloudy but there was plenty to explore in the historical district. He also took me to the El Panecillo (Angel statue) and pointed out everything as far as the eye could see including two volcanoes that were visible from here. It was an amazing day and I would highly recommend it and Carlos.

Amazing tour! Our guide Micheal picked us up right on time and had a very full tour planned. First was the cable car ride with outstanding views of the city. We explored the area for ~ 1 hr before heading back down. Next up was Panecillo hill, also with great views or old town. We then headed to the basilica and ended our tour with a walk through old town. A busy but OUTSTANDING day. Highly highly recommend

Felt like our guide wanted to spend too much time on top of cable car and then going to see Quito angel statue. Wanted and would have enjoyed spending more time seeing city and not in car sitting in traffic to see just another view of the same thing

Dear guest, Thank you very very much for your review. First of all we are talking about a tour that is called "CABLE CAR AND QUITO PRIVATE CITY TOUR". Obviously our tour includes the visit to the Cable Car and El Panecillo Hill, which are considered the most outstanding viewpoints of the city, and what our guests normally expect to visit during their time in Quito. And also the tour includes a walk in the Old Town of Quito, which is considered the highlight of the Capital City of Ecuador, and all that is what you got. We have incredible reviews about the same tour guide, whose name is Michael, doing exactly the same tour. About traffic, that is something we cannot do nothing about, and especially considering you were staying at Hotel Casa Gangotena, which was surrounded by roadworks on the last three years, because of the subway's constructions, which converts that particular sector in a very challenging area to access. Every capital city all over the world has some difficulties about traffic. We agree with you, it is always better to read the itinerary, terms and conditions, etc. of a tour package, before booking it, not only past travelers reviews... In that way expectations will be exactly according to tour program. Tripadvisor offer very detailed information about every single tour advertised on this website, which means that all the info is very transparent. Thank you very much again for your valuable review!
