Good tour

Booked this last minute since blue lagoon was closed due to volcano activity. But it was a good alternative. Still got to see the sites of golden circle. Guides were very informative. The Fontana baths were nice and relaxing and more than likely way less crowded than blue lagoon would have been. Only thing, I wish it was the last thing we did because it’s hard to keep touring after getting so relaxed. I started with one bus group, was dropped off to do the baths for a couple hours then picked up by a different group to continue the tour. The transfers and swaps were all on time and coordinated well just would’ve been nice to end with the baths.

Awful grey line experience (Fontana was good)

Sadly this trip was probably the worst tour I’ve ever taken. From the morning with the driver who picked us up was miserable, not welcoming at all. We then had to switch from a minibus to a coach which is not unusual and not a problem. However next we did a small part of the tour and then had to go to Fontana spa which we expected to do on way home not at start of day, so we were the only ones disembarking the coach and no warning. Wasn’t told if we needed to get lunch at the spa or wait for next stop to the Geysirs . On way back it was even worse as we were two hours later back than expected, as grey lines had agreed to merge another tour with ours and join our coach so we had to sit for 90 min waiting, no refreshments provided or toilets available, we’d risen sensible toilet breaks and refreshments based on expected time to return. No tour company ever should force other paying customers to sit and wait for another tour group to join, my youngest nephew was forced to wait for the toilet for over 3hrs and was in agony by the time we got back to the city. He almost wet himself which would’ve been humiliating and lot of his making!!! I was disgusted by lack of compassion or thought for passengers, the other group only needed to join ours due to a broken down vehicle. Tour company could’ve sent a replacement vehicle to them and let us maintain our original schedule. We also missed our dinner reservation as we had another tours booked at 9pm, so we missed out on another experience in Iceland due to the tour operator. Fontana spa was a nice refreshing spa without hustle and bustle of somewhere like blue lagoon which is too busy and commercial. Fontana was clean, easy to use and relaxing.

Large coach tour - not as advertised

Disappointed initially as the description stated there would be a maximum of 30 travellers and yet we were on a very large coach (almost double that number) and lucky to get 2 seats together at the back of the full and crowded coach - not what I had been sold. A different coach picked us up from Fontana which was already full with another tour by the time it got there - again very lucky to find 2 seats together at the back. Having said that the pickup and visits went well and we enjoyed all the sights - especially the Fontana Spa which was very relaxing and had delicious soup and rye bread for lunch. The tour guides and drivers on both coaches were really helpful.

Wonderful time in Iceland

I booked this tour because I only had one full day in Iceland and wanted to make the most of it. The trip did not disappoint. I was a bit worried that we'd be rushed because of the limited daylight (only 5 hours per day), but we were not. We had enough time to see everything, take tons of photos, and enjoy the beauty. Our tour guide was wonderful

I have booked a golden circle and Laugarvatn Fontana tour for two people. We were waiting in front of the guest house marked on the Viator form. There was no transfer and we have missed the tour. I can changed it to an express tour on the same day, but without Fontana for the same price. I think it was not only our fault, there was no misunderstanding with other tour operators, only with Grey Line. There was no message from Grey Line or Viator that the pick up does not work in this case at the guesthouse. Why should I fill the Guesthouse name on the form if the pick up point is in a bus stop. There were no any message with the pick up point marked that is bus stop No. 11. So I don't think it is a correct organising, so I apply some refund, because the tour realized was without the Fontana visiting, logically without the entrance fee to the Fontana bath. Zóra Kóbor

We were picked up at a bus stop close to our bed and breakfast by small bus and taken to the larger buses that travel the road of this beautiful country. The guide was fluent in English. She told us the history of Iceland and how most people live. We drove through dormant volcano and saw where the city of Reykjavik gets its hot water and how it is transported in a country with much seismic activity. Waterfalls were spectacular with the power and might of the rivers. The Fontana Geothermal baths were enjoyed for approximately 2 hours in different temperatures of water. Bring your own towel or it will cost you 8-9 to rent one for a couple of hours. Cost of food is expensive. Well worth taking this tour specially if you only have a few days in Iceland. We plan to go back

Great guide/driver, very knowledgable and personable. Went out his way to accommodate interests. Enjoyed the smaller group and vehicle and opportunity to include the geothermal pools, which were much less crowded than the more famous Blue Lagoon. It was a full and interesting day.

This excursion was operated by Grey Line. Overall, the tour was good - buses were very spacious and comfortable, sights were great. The national park was probably my favourite. Unfortunately, we were unable to visit the Fontana Geothermal Baths as they were flooded that day. The reason I am giving this tour 3 stars and not anything higher is because during the first stop, there was a couple who were late to return to the bus about 10-15 mins late. The tour guide, Rah, asked nearby tourists what nationality the late comers were. When they responded with oriental or asian, Rah responded with, Why am I not surprised. I did not appreciate this at all. People are allowed to have their opinions, however I believe that if you are a person working with tourists from all walks of life, at the very least you should not voice these generalized statements.

The tour was okay. The guide was nice enough, but not overly informative. Unfortunately the weather was terrible rained all day, but there isn't anything he could do about that. He was on time and made sure we were done on time. There wasn't a lot of time to spend at any of the stops other than Fontana. Overall it was an okay experience. I prefer a more informative tour, but others may not care about this.
