What To Expect

Your electric, pedal-assisted bike tour starts at a central Rome location, where you meet your guide and ride out of the city center to the Appian Way. Dating back to 312 BC, the Ancient Appian Way was constructed to connect Rome to Southern Italy and became one of the most important thoroughfares in the Roman Republic.

When you arrive at the start of the ancient road, you can relax and enjoy the scenery while riding on your electric-assist bike—allowing you to cover a lot of ground with minimal effort while you enjoy the fresh air of the Roman countryside.

Follow your guide past ancient sites like the Thermal Baths of Caracalla, the Aurelian Walls, and the Park of the Aqueducts.

Admire rural Italy, and hear stories from your guide about the centuries-old ruins. During the longer tour option, enjoy a guided tour of the catacombs and learn about ancient Roman burial traditions as you delve inside the subterranean tunnels.

Your tour concludes when you return to central Rome.

Wow! This was an amazing trip. It was much more than we expected and much longer than we expected. The electric bikes, made it easy to get around and see a lot. It turned out to be one of our favorite Excursions in Rome. Our tour guide, Klaas, was amazing as well. He was very knowledgeable and pointed out all of the interesting historical points along the way.

Super fun ebike ride by roman sites.
Lynn_R, Feb 2024
We really enjoyed the ebike tour guide and information, riding by several roman viaducts.. very nice and easy 4 hr ebike ride.
Nice change to being in the heart of the city.
Pauline_P, Feb 2024
This bike tour was a great way to see the Appian Way and the countryside outside of the city. Our tour guide, Bita, was fabulous. Her English was immaculate and her knowledge in depth. Thank you for a great day!! For those nervous about cycling on roads; our guide managed us on the roads with confidence, stopping traffic etc to allow us to cross. I would imagine it to be hard going in the heat of the summer sun!!
Fantastic experience!
Alethea_C, Feb 2024
Fantastic experience! I come to Rome often, and this is the best tour I have done. Fun, informative and interesting. Caterina was an excellent guide. Grazie!
Unique and exhilarating
Jessica_A, Feb 2024
I was a bit apprehensive because I’d never used an e-bike. Our guide, Rita, was amazingly patient and explained the functions and our planned route clearly. The experience was fun and interactive. We stopped for pictures and commentary at various important sites. The route varied between city streets and parks. Overall, it was such a great day! My teenage son convinced reluctant me to go and I’m so glad I did. I highly recommend this activity as it’s a whole new way to see the city.

Thank you for your review! We are also glad you did the tour with us! And truly happy you enjoyed it. Thanks again and hope to welcome you in Rome another time. Zak.
Wonderful way to end trip in Rome
Dominique_S, Feb 2024
The catacombs and aqueducts are amazing. Our tour guide was great, I would definitely do the 6 hour tour so you get a guided tour of the catacombs. Don’t worry about it being 6 hours, you aren’t actually riding the bike that long. The total mileage was 17.2 miles and actual riding time was 1 hour, 48 minutes. And you are using an electric assisted bike so it’s not hard at all. You also get to stop multiple times and stop for lunch at this amazing pizza shop.
Great day out
Stephanie_N, Feb 2024
I had the best day on this tour - one of my favourite experiences in Rome. It was nice to see the city in a different format and the e-bike made cycling easy as you can choose the level of exertion you want. Our guide, Youri, was amazing and would point out stops of relevance to us and answer questions as they came up. The route taken was incredibly scenic and calm, and cycling alongside the Aqueducts was my section.
Would come again
Eric_M, Jan 2024
Our guide was amazing, friendly and knowledgeable and pointed out all the hidden gems that you wouldn’t notice yourself. The e-bikes are nice and very easy to ride on even for older folks. The route was very scenic and relaxed and it’s an overall eye opening experience!
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Thank you Eric! We know that our Guides work with passion but we like to read that they manage to transmit it to others, making the tour a rich and complete experience! Then the beauty of Rome makes everything easier, right? Best Regards Simone
Lovely time!
ClaudiaJuliane_G, Jan 2024
Had a really good time. It’s exhausting but worth it! Be prepared to see lots of cute animals too! Bikes are in great shape although they get uncomfortable if you‘re not used to being on a bike.
Loved it!
Joel_B, Jan 2024
The best bathrooms in Rome to start and and the tour! Plus the views and history on the trip are amazing!!
Amazing! Definitely recommend as a solo female traveler
Katherin_K, Jan 2024
Simone was a great tour guide and gave in-depth explanations of each stop! I highly recommend the 6 hour trip option since we were able to take our time visiting the catacombs. The bike ride was 17 miles but it's definitely way easier to do with an e-bike.
Best tour in Rome.
MonaLois_F, Jan 2024
Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The route was very interesting and the bikes were in great shape.
Highly Recommend
Brianna_S, Jan 2024
Absolutely phenomenal experience! Our guide Alli did an amazing job keeping us safe as we biked along our route. We loved the route we took and the e-bikes were the best quality we have used! Highly recommend.
Terrific day!
Stephanie_B, Jan 2024
We loved our bike tour with Ali. The countryside is so beautiful, and we felt like we were in good hands with Ali as he guided us through the city, villages and parks. This is my favorite thing we’ve done in Rome so far!
Response from Host, Jan 2024
Thank you for your review! We are glad that you enjoyed our tour, the appian way has its charm taking you back in time. Also having Ali keeping you safe and giving you some history brings ruins back alive. Thanks again for your review and hope to have you with us back again in Rome. Zak
Great day out.
Linda_P, Dec 2023
We greatly enjoyed the tour with the e-bikes making it an easy and enjoyable ride. Our guide shared a lot of history which made the ride a lot more interesting, he took the time to explain everything we were seeing. It was also very nice to leave the busy city behind for a few hours, we went during low season and at times we were the only people on the Appian Way which was fantastic. Highly recommend the tour with the stop at the catacombs.
A great way to see off the beaten track Ancient Rome
michelle_f, Dec 2023
A great way to explore an important part of Ancient Rome history. We are a family with adult children and all of us enjoyed the tour. 6 hours on a bike can be challenging but the e-bike took all the effort out of the steep hills that we rode. A fabulous way to see the catacombs, the aqueducts and the Appian Way. We rode for short periods and then stopped to take in a site with our informative guide Ximena and then rode some more. Lunch break was a great recharge. Our guide Ximena was fabulous, very informative and ensured everyone had a great time. TIP - if doing it in winter like we did - bring gloves and a warm hat (to wear under your helmet).
Response from Host, Dec 2023
Thank you for your review. we are always happy to know that you had a great time, indeed for you to enjoy the landscapes and not worry about the steep hills the e-bikes are the answer. Thank you again and hope to welcome you again on a different Tour. Zak,
Spectacular and informative!
Liz_M, Dec 2023
The ride was spectacular! The best part was our tour guide Felipe. He had such extensive knowledge of all of the sites we stopped to see. He was also an excellent guide in biking through the city and on the Appian Way(which was really quite difficult at times). Absolutely one of our Rome highlights!
Response from Host, Dec 2023

Rome in the open air
Lisa_B, Nov 2023
Entering the outskirts of Rome in the open air was a fabulous & invigorating experience we’d happily do again. The pace of cycling and stopping at different sites was well balanced and the guide’s love of history made for an interesting and educational adventure!
Response from Host, Nov 2023

Douglas_M, Nov 2023
The best way to see a city. The e-bikes were amazing and Gazza was a fantastic tour guide. We saw things we never would have seen on our own. Can’t recommend this highly enough.
Great Day on the Appian Way!
Constance_D, Nov 2023
Arina was the best! We had a great time and learned so much and saw so much. Even riding in the pouring rain was a blast!
