What To Expect

Your electric, pedal-assisted bike tour starts at a central Rome location, where you meet your guide and ride out of the city center to the Appian Way. Dating back to 312 BC, the Ancient Appian Way was constructed to connect Rome to Southern Italy and became one of the most important thoroughfares in the Roman Republic.

When you arrive at the start of the ancient road, you can relax and enjoy the scenery while riding on your electric-assist bike—allowing you to cover a lot of ground with minimal effort while you enjoy the fresh air of the Roman countryside.

Follow your guide past ancient sites like the Thermal Baths of Caracalla, the Aurelian Walls, and the Park of the Aqueducts.

Admire rural Italy, and hear stories from your guide about the centuries-old ruins. During the longer tour option, enjoy a guided tour of the catacombs and learn about ancient Roman burial traditions as you delve inside the subterranean tunnels.

Your tour concludes when you return to central Rome.

Wow! This was an amazing trip. It was much more than we expected and much longer than we expected. The electric bikes, made it easy to get around and see a lot. It turned out to be one of our favorite Excursions in Rome. Our tour guide, Klaas, was amazing as well. He was very knowledgeable and pointed out all of the interesting historical points along the way.

Fun experience
Maria_C, Apr 2024
This was a great bike tour. Moderate fitness level is required. We saw a lot of Roman ruins while bike riding. It was so much fun to ride a bike on the old Roman roads. My 15 year old had a great time. The Roman aqueduct and the park was our favorite part. Great photos!
Fabulous Itinerary!

This was so much fun! Alireza was our guide and he was fantastic. We had such a great time riding around the edge of Rome and seeing the aqueducts. The engineering of Ancient Rome is just simply off the charts. Highly recommend this tour!
Best thing we did in Rome.

Thoroughly loved this trip, beautiful countryside just outside Rome, who knew? And as for the Appian Way and the viaducts, just sensational. Our guide was lovely, very patient and knowledgeable. Bikes were very high quality. Best thing we did in Rome.

Amazing experience. The bike tour was one of the best thing our family did in Rome. Our guide Ghazaleh was very kind and professional, presenting interesting stories about all the historic places we stopped at. Picturesque views and gorgeous places. The bikes were great, everything was very well organized.

Great experience
Leigh_B, Apr 2024
Great experience and so fun! Our guide was very informative and friendly! Our tour was pushed back an hour due to a marathon on the route. Our 6- hour tour lasted 7 hours. It was all great but seemed an hour or two too long. A 4-hour tour would be perfect. Overall, great experience!
An excellent tour

Roam Rome's Appian way and surroundings.
Norman_C, Apr 2024
This e-bike, guided cycle through Rome (from close to the Colosseum) through the city walls and onto the Appian way and the catacombs (optional extra) was fully guided from adjusting the bikes to suit the rider at the starting point through to the return back. The bikes were of high quality, obviously well maintained, easy to ride and control. Helmets are provided if required, though we took our own as we'd just returned from a cycling holiday in Tuscany, a handlebar bag and water too. Fabio, our guide throughout the trip was attentive, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. The route taken is very easy, especially on e bikes, exceptionally scenic and probably about 80% on traffic free roads. When in traffic, Fabio ensured everyone knew exactly what to do, where to go and ensured safety was at the top of his concerns. The beauty of the areas Fabio guided us through was fantastic on the lovely sunny and warm spring day that we were lucky enough to enjoy on our trip. We stopped many times at points of interest and informative talks from Fabio and photo opportunities too. Cycling along the Appian way was like travelling back in time to ancient Rome thanks to Fabio's knowledge and throughout the whole route too. We opted for the catacombs tour and this took us about an hour for the guided tour of these before we were on our way again. Although advised that the tour (if the catacombs is selected) lasts 6 hours, ours was over 7 hours ( by agreement) since nobody in the group had any commitments to anything else that day and Fabio was so committed to giving us a good tour experience. It was 7 hours well spent and l cannot recommend it highly enough for a different view of Rome....and more to the point.....without the huge numbers of people one encounters at every tourist spot in Rome. It was a refreshing contrast to the hustle and bustle of this busy city. Your visit to Rome will be 100% enhanced if you opt for this trip.
Good and unusual experience

Incredibly relaxing tour that takes you away from the busy tourist hot spots of the city and down one of the most important roads ever built. We stopped at a lot of significant and unique places that allows you to build a more complete picture of ancient Roman life. Our guide Simon was very knowledgeable and friendly. Highlight of my travels in Italy for sure!
EXCELLENT!
Leah_C, Apr 2024
LOVED our bike tour! We saw amazing things we normally would never see. The views and stops weee amazing!!! Our guide Filipe did an excellent job keeping us safe on the streets of Rome. My 2 teenagers LOVED this experience. I am not in great shape and haven’t ridden a bike in years, I was very nervous about this tour. Filipe helped with my fears and kept me close to him. The bikes were very easy to ride and the E option literally saved me!!! We really enjoyed the pizza lunch and we just the best day!
Amazing

Was so so amazing! Got to see outside the city and places I would never guess to go! Super educational and amazing scenery! Was able to keep the bike at a low settling for a great workout! My original booking day it rained and they were so accommodating and I was able to move it!
A must when in Rome
Brooke_L, Apr 2024
This was our favorite thing we did in Rome! I thought six hours would be to long but with all the stops it wasn’t. We took our teenage daughter and she loved it too! I would tell anyone that visits Rome to do this tour. Also our guid Bita was such a good guide!
Historical E-bike ride

The weather was prefect for a historical bike ride through the southeastern portion of Rome. Seeing the original Rome road was awesome.
