You will absolutely LOVE this bike ride. If you can ride a bike, you can do this tour. My family LOVED this tour as we biked through the Appia Antica and the surrounding parks. Beautiful. You will never see Rome like this without going on this tour.
      A Must Do Experience
      Katie_R, Mar 2024
This was the tour I had been waiting to do and I was not disappointed. The journey takes you through the most wonderful scenery and you immediately feel like you’re going through time as you head beyond the gates of Rome. Our guide, Iman, was brilliant- he is studying Classics at University and his passion and knowledge was beyond my expectations. He ooozes love for the ancient Roman world and it’s infectious. We are on the last leg of a 5 week holiday in Europe and this has been the highlight for me. The e-bike is super easy - and I just had knee surgery 6 mths ago. Loved the bike so much that I might buy one when I get home. The roads get bumpy but your on an ancient road so it’s expected and it is part of the adventure. Wear comfy clothes and extra padding 😉 The catacombs were a bonus. To Iman - thank you for the most amazing experience and for making my dream to ride the Appian Way come true. Your kindness and knowledge about the aqueducts and ancient Roman history will always make me smile. We had such a wonderful day with you that we will never forget 🙏🤗 Katie and Andrew - Australia.
Awesome outdoor history lesson with lunch
      Monique_W, Jan 2024
A great outdoor experience for my 10 year old (who loves bike riding) that still offered some history not in a crowded museum. Amazing scenery, great lunch, and our hosts/guides were super nice. Just don’t be late or you will miss the Catacombs. We still enjoyed our time and had an unforgettable last day of the year!
      Totally worth unique experience!!!!!

Worth every euro!!!! Excellent value!!! Unique scenery amd got to seenparts if Rome weve never seen before. Ricardo was our guide and very knowledgable and very aware of everyones ability. This was a 12 mile route and very doable for most ability. There was only one small hill, but with the ebike it was very easy. Everything else was flat or little rolling hills. This really was EASY. We pssed scenery i dont think you would see any other way in Rome. Catacombs (tickets included), Appean way, huge park and aquaducts. We even saw a few farms. The stop for lunch was at a restaurant at a tennis club and was private and very good!!! There were 4 adults in our group and we all thought this was a highlight of our trip and worth the price. Highly recommend!!!!!
Great way to spend a morning in Rome

We enjoyed the whole experience. The catacombs were very interesting and moving at times. The bicycles were excellent and not much effort required to move. Lunch in the market was very good.
      Response from Host, Nov 2023
That's great to hear, especially the market lunch, it's something we take pride in...
      Terrific Appian Way E-Bike Tour
      Ken_H, Nov 2023
Hosein was an outstanding host. He made the day very enjoyable and very informative. He was also very attentive to our safety including managing traffic! It was a fascinating location to bike through and see the history of the Appian Way! Thanks Hosein for being such a terrific guide!
E-Bike Catacomb and Aqueduct Tour and Lunch
      Erwin_W, Nov 2023
Richard was so informative, fun and could speak the various languages of our group! He had even been to our country and city before and we could share experiences. Julio also assisted for the first time with our group and we were inspired by his love for Rome, Roman history and recommendations for touring the city. The e-bike ride to the Catacombs., ancient aqueducts (one still in use), and club lunch location was spectacular and so scenic! We saw so much beautiful countryside and rode on an ancient Roman road. The lunch at the club was superb! - Wine, antipasti and main course. The Catacomb and aqueduct tours were incredible and informative. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone and everyone! There were a couple busier streets that we rode on for short distances but were not uncomfortable. Children accustomed to riding bikes can do this and they even have ride a long child seats. Thank you for an amazing day!
      Great day!

We had a Great day! The guide Richard was great. Highly recommend. Loved the stop at the end at the local club. Be aware that riding the appian way is a cobble stone road. Not good for people with back problems.
Excellent ebike tour along Appian Way
      MARISEL_A, Jul 2023
This e-bike tour with Glenn was one of the highlights of our weeklong trip to Rome (my husband's very favorite activity!). It was easy to find the bike garage/meeting place (just a couple minutes down from the metro). We went with our two teens and none of us had ever used an electric-assist bike but Glenn taught us all we needed to know before starting so we felt comfortable There are some spots on the route where you have to go on big roads with cars but Glenn was good leading us and communicating. We made several stops along the route so Glenn could fill us in on the very interesting history of the sites, including at one of the catacombs, the start of Via Appia Antica, and some of the ancient aquaducts. We went on some incredibly beautiful tree-lined paths. We rested at an area by one of the aquaducts with a pond and fresh water spot where we could freshen up. Then we went to a local market (a hidden gem) for our Italian picnic, which felt like a small banquet (great pasta!!). On our way back we passed a farm with goats, horses and llamas (they will come to you by the fence if you have snacks to offer - our daughter really enjoyed that!). It was mid July during the record breaking heatwave so yes, it was hot. But much of the route is in the shade and with the assist of the e-bike (on which you control the level of assist you get), you don't have to physically work much - most of the ride was super enjoyable and breezy!! The road/path is rough/bumpy in some areas so you should be competent mountain biking to handle that terrain. In sum, we loved our tour with Glenn! Would highly recommend! Despite our teens not being in the best mood at the start (it was the morning, it was hot and, well, they are teens), they ended up really enjoying this tour too! For an excellent physical and cultural experience outside the hustle and bustle of the city, sign up for this ebike tour along the Appian Way!!!
Great ride and very passionate tour operators
      Jeffrey_H, Jul 2023
Great ride and the operators were very passionate about the history and the tour. We did hit some mechanical hiccups which the tour operators addressed quickly and professionally.
awesome private ebike tour of aquaducts and countryside
      CAROLYN_B, Jul 2023
We had a very knowledgeable tour guide who shared amazing stories of what life was like in early rome. We had great ebikes to ride. It included a pasta lunch w salad and lots of wine. I would highly recommend this tour to see what rome is like outside the walls. We learned alot about early romes and the aquaduct system
Good experience - just make sure you are up for it
      Alan_H, Jun 2023
My wife and I did a very similar trip a few years back with our sons and we all loved it. Back this year with friends we didn’t hesitate to book again, albeit with a different company. However this wasnt the same trip - longer, much more technically challenging (rough tracks, gravel paths etc). Whilst I would still recommend I would also say only do this if you are fit and have decent bike handling skills - we had a few tumbles, thankfully not lasting damage (cuts & bruises only) but didn’t make it to the end of the tour.
      Awesome E-bikes!
      Debra_E, Jun 2023
We loved this trip! My teens really liked the e-bikes, the lunch was wonderful and scenery was beautiful. Richard was a great guide! Would highly recommend.
Beautiful scenery with lots of fun
      J_D, Jun 2023
We had a great time on this tour. We had fun riding the bikes and learning along the way. The scenery was beautiful and our guide great, Hussein. He was not only informative but also great at caring about our safety and fixing our bikes as we needed it. Would recommend it for people who feel comfortable riding on busy streets and off trail. They did separate us out into slow group and faster group. We were in faster group.
Amazing tour, presuming the tour operator has the bikes you reserve
      Jody_D, Jun 2023
Let me start by stating that the tour part of this experience was phenomenal. Our tour guide, Iman, was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. We saw parts of Rome and learned history we would have otherwise missed because an ebike tour allows you to cover so much ground and access areas away from cars. If you have not taken an ebike tour, I highly recommend it--we took one in Rome and one in Paris, and they were two of the absolute highlights of our trip. With that said, only half of our group was unable to go on this tour. We booked and reserved a total of 8 bikes for the tour, including 4 kids' bikes. The tour operator apparently owns only 2 kids' bikes. If more than 2 kids are in a group, the tour operator relies on a rental company for additional bikes. In our case, the tour operator was only able to locate one additional kids' bike. We spent about 30-40 minutes waiting while the tour operator attempted to track down an additional kids' bike, but to no avail. The tour operator offered to put one of our kids on an adult bike, which, after going on the tour, would not have been a safe option since the kid who tried the adult bike was clearly undersized. The tour operator also offered to attach a tag along bike, which was entirely too small for our 10- through 12-year-old children. Also, after going on the tour, I think a tag along bike would not have been a practical option given the terrain. Ultimately, the family of four with whom we booked was unable to go because of the lack of the proper number of kids' bikes. So, if you plan to go on this tour and you have kids in your group, it might make sense to contact the tour operator ahead of time to ensure that sufficient bikes will be available. Glenn, who apparently owns the tour operator, was friendly and apologetic about the situation, but we would have simply preferred to have the bikes available for our tour that we reserved when making the reservation.
      Response from Host, Jun 2023
Thanks for taking time to write about your experience. Its unfortunate that we didn't receive a response from you regarding the fact there were two bookings made under the same name, for you and your brother, which required us to provide 4 kids ebikes, and hence we needed to know if in fact you had made a mistake and booked twice. This wasn't the case but we didn't receive any response in the days building up to your arrival, and were not able to source a 4th bike on the day. My sincerest apologies for our inability to provide the necessary for your brother and his children to join you on this tour.
      This tour is incredible!
      Melanie_F, Jun 2023
There are not nearly enough superlatives to adequately describe this tour. After the crowds of Rome, it was a wonderful palate cleaner for our brains. Both calming and reenergizing all at once. And incredibly interesting to boot! The countryside around Rome has as much to offer as Rome proper, and this tour is the best way to take it all in and leave gloriously contented.
      Great bike tour with Hosein.
      Lisa_O, Jun 2023
What an amazing time we had biking the Apian Way and seeing the Aqueducts of Rome with our guide Hosein from Red Bike Tours. We learned so much from him and enjoyed every part of our day!
      Not a good experience
      Jacqueline_S, Jun 2023
Our tour guide was very new and got us lost a minimum of four times. We were cycling on highways where cars were blowing past us at 60 kms an hour or faster. I fell a couple of times and there was no first aid equipment, such as Band-Aids or medical creams available. There were two broken chains and the tour guide did not have any replacement chains. After speaking with the regular tour guide, he confirmed we were never to have cycled down areas we went.
      Response from Host, Jun 2023
Your experience of our service is a clear sign of how difficult it is to find good guides. Your tour guide had in fact been on tour numerous times and yet still managed to mess up. I will contact you directly to issue a refund. A presto!
      NOT a picnic
      Elise_S, May 2023
It was a workout but totally worth it for the amazing views! My only issue was that it is definitely NOT a picnic. They took us to a tiny market and we sat around a table and had pasta. There was no wine provided and we did not stop for food until over 3 hours into the tour.
A fun way to see the Appian Way
      Frederick_J, May 2023
Hossien was an informative, fun, and engaging guide. He was happy to share the history behind the sites. We enjoyed everything about our tour; the e-bikes, the sites, the information, and the delicious picnic. It was my first time using an e-bike and I loved the assist up the hills. Highly recommend this tour!
