Pompei Revealed!!

What an outstanding day! Our driver Paolo was so attentive guiding us thru a long long day. Our guide was Sasha (sp). He was delightful, clearly an expert who shared history as well as interesting tidbits, left us wishing it had been longer.

Everything was absolutely wonderful. Our guide in Pompeii was great and full of information, I believe his name was Sacha or Sasha. Alessandro was our guide for Sorrento and he was super sweet and very friendly, I hope when I return I will be in on one of his tours again. Pompeii was so amazing and Sorrento was absolutely beautiful

Mario and Veronica were great they both did a great job explaining the region we were in how it changed over centuries, the life style of people in their period, and the extent of the archeological work that has been undertaken. The tour is well worth the time to understand Pompeii

Misleading.

I was extremely disappointed. It said there would be a maximum of 18 people. We had TWENTY NINE people in our group. What false advertising! The tour guide would describe what he was seeing and we couldn’t even fit in the room to see it. And the Pompeii tour was super rushed.

Marco was a great host/guide on the bus...had a stop about halfway there in Cassino, so it made the bus trip easy (and Emiliano was a terrific driver :-) Sylvia gave a great tour of Pompeii...we expected to see more 'mummies'...and the ruins were pretty non-descript, so she helped make sense of all of it and keep it interesting Lunch in Sorrento was our best meal of the week and best scenery of the week "Terrazza delle Sirene", recommended by Marco... and Sorrento is the home of Limoncello :-) Long day, but well worth the trip

Pompeii was amazing. Sorrento was nice as well. We felt even though we skipped through some parts of pompeii, we saw enough to capture the wonder of the ruins. Our guide Mario was phenomenal. He even showed us all how to use the metro and took us through the station when the tour completed. That was going above and beyond! Grazie Mario!

The Pompeii part of the tour is too rushed. We basically were given 5 minutes to take photos, didn't get to see all of the important sites in Pompeii. I was trying so hard to get photos I couldn't listen to the guide. And he was really pushing through the tour. The other major issue was the air-conditioning on the bus wasn't working in 100+ degree weather. This made things unbearable while traveling through out our tour. I would have rather rushed through lunch than rushed through Pompeii (the reason we booked this tour). Make sure the bus you use is mechanically sound for the weather conditions. Development of a system that spreads the tours out more efficiently at Pompeii, so they're not running on top of each other. Sorrento and the Amalfi coast are not to be missed!

Pompeii and Sorrento was awesome. Buss ride was very long and rough. You could feel every bump in the road and there was allot of them. Overall great tour though.

Great tour. Travelled with teenage sons. We all thought Pompeii was a real highlight. Vincent our guide at the site was utterly brilliant. Knowledgeable, funny and really engaging throughout. Other tours of the site didn’t look as interested ! Our bus tour and Sorrento guide Allesandro was great too. He kept the group to time, explained well what was happening and was really helpful. The suggested lunch spot in Sorrento was a huge win of the day. Only slight hitch was the mini bus having a ‘moment’ on the way back to Rome but our capable driver Paulo sorted it without a fuss. Great day tour, highly recommend.

Ilaria was a wonderful guide—so was our Pompeii guide, but I forgot her name! 😢 Pompeii was so interesting (yet very hot); Sorrento was absolutely beautiful. Wish we would’ve had more than two hours to explore, but the restaurant “Terraza di Sirenes” had the most stunning view and was well worth it! The family enjoyed the day!

This review was a challenge. It was the organizers first time on this trip so there were a few hiccups, but she was kind and handled herself well in adverse situations. I could tell the bus driver wanted to give a good experience and he tried his best to share things with limited English. Pompeii guides were great. Sorrento lunch and town were nice. The challenge of this trip was the bus a/c didn't work and was quite unbearable. They didn't make arrangements to switch buses, but we did get some money back. If a/c worked I would have had no issues but it is about 7 hours on the bus.
