What To Expect

Meet a tour rep in front of Caffe Vergnano inside Termini Station and check in. Board your high-speed train and relax on the roughly 1.5–hour ride to Naples. Arrive at the Napoli Centrale station and meet your guide as you exit the train. Then, board your air-conditioned shuttle and head straight for Pompeii.

Take in views of the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius on the 75 minute drive to Pompeii. Skip the lines and crowds struggling to get into the Pompeii Archaeological Park, where you spend about two hours exploring with one a guided tour.

After Pompeii, get back in the shuttle and visit a winery on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. Tour the winery, learn about local wine-producing methods, and enjoy wine tastings and a farm-to-table lunch.

Head back to the train station in Naples, where you board the return train for Termini Station in Rome.

Lost in naples

Overall, a very good experience. Unfortunately, at the start of the tour at the Rome train station, the representative was not very specific as to where to meet in Naples after disembarking the train for the bus ride to Pompeii, resulting in our missing the bus, even after several tries to contact the tour operator for clarification. By the time we were able to contact someone, we were advised the bus had left without us (which they should not have done!). We were told to take a cab to meet the group in Pompeii, which we did at an additional cost of 100 Euro!. We are asking for reimbursement of the cost of that cab ride. Thank you for your consideration.

Dear Michael, Thank you for taking your time to write this review. We are saddened that you had such a troubled experience, nevertheless, we would like to add our point of view to the story you told. The information about the meeting point once in Naples was in the email you received the day before departure, and since our representatives wait until the departure of the train before leaving, you could have asked them if something was not clear to you. All of the other members of the group easily found the meeting point in Naples. We have tried to reach for you by phone and by email when your tour guide told us you were not at the meeting point, and had the whole group waiting for your party until it was simply too late. This tour has a schedule to respect. You called us back 40 minutes after the train had arrived at the station, and we stayed on the phone with you and kept communicating both with you and your tour guide to make sure you could meet in Pompeii. We believe we did the best we could so that you did not miss your tour, and as per the refund request, we have responded by email already and will discuss this privately. Kind regards from Rome

Great day trip to Pompeii in April 2024.

We were impressed with the operational efficiency of this tour group for our day trip from Rome to the ruins of Pompeii. Clare was an outstanding guide who clearly understood the history of the ruins. We departed Rome Termini Train station in the morning for our trip to Naples, bus ride to the ruins, and then we returned to the bus to visit a local winery for a wonderful lunch with wine tasting. We were then shuttled by bus back to train station for our ride back to Rome. It was a full day, with a lot of walking, but allowed us to view everything we wanted while there.

Rosa was an excellent guide. She was very informative and personable. She knew a lot about Pompeii and made it very interesting. The winery was also excellent, wine was very good and lunch was great. We throughly enjoyed the day. Thank you for your excellent service. Highly recommend this to tour.

Great way to see Pompeii for a day

We thought this was a fabulous tour. It involved taking a high speed train for about an hour and 15 mins from Rome to Naples, then taking a small (maybe 25 seater) bus for 25-30 mins to Pompeii. Then a very informative guided tour of Pompeii for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours hitting the highlights. (What an unbelievable place!) Then we were given a short period of free time to shop before going to a winery for a wine tasting and lunch and then the reverse trip back to Rome. Every step of the way there was either a tour coordinator giving clear instructions ( e.g. walking us to our train coach where we had assigned seats and telling us where to meet the tour guide- at the fountain to the left at the end of the platform) or the actual tour guide navigating us through the crowds at Pompeii and showing us things you might miss if doing Pompeii on your own. They really took away all the stress of the trip and we had a marvelous experience.

Amazing Pompeii and Wine Tasting experience

Our guide was Antonio! He was super funny, kind, and knowledgeable! It was great to have him as our guide to provide us information and history on the city of Pompeii. It was my first time going to Pompeii with my partner and it was definitely worth it! We traveled from Rome Italy and made our visit to Pompeii a day trip with this tour. We left at 8am, took a 1.5 hour fast-speed train to Naples, then took a 15 minute air conditioned van ride to Pompeii. We spent around 2 hours exploring the city and the park. Then, we went for around 2 hours to the most beautiful winery we have ever seen with the BEST food (super accommodating for people with dietary restrictions!) and a tasting (with refills) of five different wines! We had a charcuterie board for an appetizer with bread and oils and cheeses, then pasta with tomato sauce and basil, then a fruit shortcake for dessert. My partner and I both said that this is easily the best meal we have ever had in our entire lives hands down, and my partner can be quite picky! We arrived back in rome around 5pm. Overall, the experience was incredible and I would definitely recommend this tour just because it gave us plenty of time and it never once felt rushed, and this tour in particular comes with an amazing wine tasting and lunch with round trip transportation to Rome included. It was overall a little pricey for my partner and I but it was 100% worth it.

Carefree way to see Pompeii

It was great to not have to worry about how to get from Rome to Pompeii! They took care of all the transportation, then had an excellent tour with Chiara! We then had a great lunch at the winery and met new friends while there. Overall a great experience

Going back to Roman times

Very well organized and executed. Finding the group at Roma Termini station was easy, as was hopping the train to Pompei. Felicia was our guide and, as an art restorer and clear Pompei lover, really brought to life how Romans lived. Examples included her describing a Roman "fast-food" stall, a bakery, the homes of people of different socioeconomic backgrounds, etc. She was really able to bring us into ancient Rome. Her caring was also clear when he came upon a lost, crying child - she immediately reassured the child and we stayed with the child till her father came back... Italiatours also was fantastic in allowing my daughter and I to take a later train back (so we could spend some time in Napoli). The only part that was not awesome (it was great but not awesome) was the lunch.

Horrible vendor

Horrible! I tried to cancel our trip 24 hours in advance due to a flight delay. I was told the tickets had already been purchased. I called and explained we would not make that time the did nothing to accommodate and wanted to charge me full amount for the services I never received. I asked if I could arrange to pick up the tickets that were purchased, with no response I disputed the charge on my card. The company now two months later after the dispute was found in my favor is threating to send me personally to collections. Saying a contact was entered on the site I am responsible. Please do not use this vendor horrible horrible experience. Will be reporting to bbb👎

A great family outing

I took a guy. It was absolutely amazing. She was extremely knowledgeable and excellent with all the members of the group, especially in keeping us all together and moving. I would definitely recommend this tour to individual as well as families.

This was an awesome experience! The tour guides from Italia Tours were all wonderful! The high speed train was great- nice and clean. Pompeii was incredible and very emotional. The wine tasting and the lunch at Bosco de Medici Winery were top notch. What a beautiful vineyard and winery. Everyone there was fantastico! We got to chat with some of the other members of our tour. We enjoyed talking with them! A very enjoyable day from start to finish!

Worth Every Euro

Train tickets were emailed to us the day prior. We were told to meet 30 minutes prior to the tour start time of 9:15. Meeting point in train terminal was east to find and the tour staff brought us to the proper train car where we had assigned seats. Train was about an hour to Naples. We were instructed to meet the next tour staff member near the mermaid fountain by track 24 and she was also east to find. She remained our tour guide for the rest of the trip. Upon leaving the group we were taken to the ruins by minibus and had about 2 hours in the ruins with our guide who spoke by headsets. She did a great job keeping people together and on time. While the ruins are massive and it would be impossible to see everything in a day, 2 hours felt like the right amount for us and our teens. There was a short minibus ride to a lively Vinyard where we were give a brief tour, generous wine tasting, and light lunch of meats, cheese, and pasta. There was a short bus ride back to the train station in Naples where we were directed onto the proper train back to Rome. Arrived in Rome around 18:20. A great day for our family.

Two great experiences in one tour

This is a bucket list item. I have been reading about Pompeii all my life. It was a treat to finally be there, and this was an excellent tour to make the most of the experience. Train travel from Rome was a plus; the wine-tasting lunch was superb. Carolina was an experienced and personable guide. This tour was a great choice, and I would recommend it without hesitation.

Well organized. High end accommodations and personnel all the way. Guide was well informed and paced us well in a very crowded place. Of course it's high visitors season. Food and pourings at winery were very tasty. A little pushy to sell their product.

Informative, Entertaining, Respectful - Pompeii is a MUST when visiting Italy!

Without the archeological Pompeii site would be very confusing. Our guide - Carla - brought the city to life! Carla has an easy listening voice and she was able to keep our group of 20 entertained and will ordered. The wine tasting event following the tour was spectacular! Winery catering staff were well informed, helpful and full of information. The food accompanying the wine varieties was excellent! Five⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️in every aspect!
