DRIVING REQUIREMENTS
1. Scooter Driving Skills: For safety reasons, riders must have prior experience. The minimum age requirement is 18 years old.
2. Driving License: If you have an EU-issued driving license, it must be category A or B. This requirement also applies to the UK, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Israel, and Switzerland.
3. International Driving Permit (IDP): Drivers with a non-EU issued license are also required to hold an International Driving Permit.
4. Security Deposit: In order to rent the Vespa, a security deposit of €500 is necessary. This can be paid by credit card or in cash. The deposit serves as a guarantee for the loaned Vespa.
⚠️Important Notice: If the driver fails to meet our driving requirements, there will be no refund.
⚠️Additional Requirement for US Citizens: US citizens must also bring an International Driving Permit issued by the American Automobile Association.

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.

Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

A must do when in Rome !

What a great experience on the back of a Vespa with Francesco - the singing driver ! Thankyou so much - would highly recommend to anyone visiting Rome to take part in this , loads of areas visited and Francesco was so knowledgable and engaging.. we had a great time thankyou !

Couldn’t get passed the demeaning attitude

Decided to not even go. My husband voiced some concerns about the roads being so crowded in Rome with so many tourists and driving in and out of them. Tour guy made some rude gestures to his friend about my husband that I wasn't supposed to see. I did not get good vibes from him and I had some difficulty understanding his English, so we opted not to even go-even though they offered drivers. While we were standing there, a car came driving by and knocked over and damaged 2 vespas. Wasn’t for us for sure. We’ve had 15 excellent experiences on Viator—but this was by far the worst.

Dear Tracy Thank you for your review The guide didn’t do any rude gestures about your husband. Before you arrived at the meeting point we kindly asked you if you were able to drive a scooter and you replied that your husband drives frequently motorbike. Your husband told to the guide that he didn’t drive a 2 wheels by long time (15 years). The guide, myself, communicated this information to his colleague in Italian. Your husband didn’t know how to use the accelerator and the guide didn’t provide him the vespa. No one was against you, we always try to avoid dangerous situations for everyone. Absolutely the best tour to do in Rome!! Be a passenger on a Vespa and ride through the narrow streets of Rome. The guides are amazing with their knowledge and ride very safely so you are free not to worry and emerge yourself in the experience. It’s well worth the money and is better than any bus tour.

Didn’t take the Vespa tour as our tour guide felt we were not experienced enough to take tour. Our travel agent stated to us twice that the tour was recommended for beginning Vespa drivers. I believe we should have been refunded our money because of the tour guide’s attitude about our participation.

I’m Francesco from Rome by Vespa It is very well explained that to drive a vespa you must be an experienced rider and not a beginner, because Rome traffic is unfriendly for beginners. Instead to ask us a refund you should contact your travel agent that provide you wrong informations, because we paid the guide and reserved Vespas Regardless Francesco

This was the highlight of our trip to Rome! Francessco was super friendly, professional and organised! Not to mention he was quite the comedian too which made the trip so enjoyable for everyone on the tour! We had to ask for a driver each last minute and Francessco was helpful in organising an extra driver without any issue! He was a fantastic tour guide, singing the whole way around the city, while informing us about the history of different locations and allowing us to stop off at most locations too! A must-do! Don't even think about it - book it!

Vespa fun in Rome

The tour itself is fun and thrilling. Unfortunately Francesco was unable to secure us the red vespas we had requested at the time of booking. However, the drivers we had were exceptional- Claudio, Michael and Andrea (sorry if I've got the names wrong) and they looked after us from beginning to thr end and went out of their way to ensure we had a good time and got back safely. We really appreciated the help they gave us. If you can, definitely try and do a Vespa tour.

It was terrible. He arrived late after going to a concert the night before and he took a look at us and decided that we couldn’t do the tour bc we had our son with us. He started making very rude and loud comments about us in front of everyone. There was no 10 minute driving safety as advertised.he just told us no we couldn’t do it as soon as he saw us.

You booked 2 Vespas for 3 people. The guide arrived at meeting point at 9:10 am and the tour was scheduled for 9:30 am The guide asked you when you last rode a scooter and how many times you rode a scooter. You answered him over 5 years ago and that you have driven once/twice. Despite we don’t accept beginners the guide made you take the driving test but you didn't even know where the accelerator was. Then you asked if it was possible to have instructions but the guide rightly pointed out that good driving experience is required. He also made you understand that driving a vespa without any experience is dangerous for you and for others. Although it was not due we also refunded the tour

We booked this tour on our first night in Italy. It was the most fun we had while there. We loved riding on the back of the vespa's while being shown around the city. It was great to go to some lesser known areas and zip around the alley's. We ended in a lovely square where our guide recommended a place for dinner that turned out to be the best meal we had in Rome. I would do this again in a heartbeat.

This tour is terrifying, exciting and so much fun!. If you are able to drive your own Vespa, I highly recommend it to get the full Rome experience...just to be able to drive like the Romans. We drove all over the city and stopped to see some amazing sights and views of the city. Our guide was informative and made sure that I was safe while driving. I would do this tour again!

The traveler booked a self drive vespa tour. She was unable to join the self-drive Vespa tour due to a lack of scooter driving skills and experience. Unfortunately, since the cancellation was made less than 24 hours before the scheduled tour, we were unable to provide a refund as we had already reserved the guide and 3 Vespas for the tour. We did offer an alternative option to upgrade the tour to include a Vespa with a driver for an additional fee of 50 € per person(as we had to pay them) but the she declined this option. All driving requirements are very well explained on product page and in the ticket in the "before to go" section, so she was aware that to drive a Vespa is required previous scooter driving experience (it should be fairly obvious that you need scooter driving experience to ride a vespa) It is sad when a costumer write a review without reporting real facts
