What To Expect

Dive into the heart of Australia's surfing culture when you meet your group in Sydney and drive 45 minutes south to the beach where you spend the day learning to surf. In total, expect four hours of lessons divided into two separate two-hour sessions. In between, have time to relax, eat a delicious barbecue buffet lunch and take in the scenery.

Your instructor takes you through Royal National Park by four-wheel drive. Zip over the sand to a long empty beach with smaller waves that are great for learning to surf. Start on land with a safety briefing and basic maneuvers before moving onto the water. By the end of the day, most people are able to stand up on their board. The lessons progress steadily, building your skills and confidence in a relaxed fashion.

Bring your swimming gear and a camera on your tour, which includes the use of a wetsuit and surfboard along with lunch and refreshments. After an epic day surf instruction and beach fun, your guide returns you to central Sydney in the early evening.

The Instructor, Nathan, was awesome! I liked that we went to a private beach so there wasn't the crowd while learning. I also loved that we were in the water for awhile so I was actually able to stand up briefly. Finishing up with a picnic on the beach was a great end to the day. I didn't like the long drive, but the private beach was worth it. We didn't do the additional stuff from the itinerary but I wanted to spend more time surfing.

This trip was definitely up to the advertising. The waves weren't very good, we were stuck in the back of someone's 'van' for the trip, and it all seemed not very professional. Would not recommend it.

It was a fun day. Was a bit disappointed we didn't make it further south to the RNP but was fun driving along the sand dunes at Boat Harbour, Kurnell. Everyone managed to stand up, most on the first wave however the waves were very small and either required a push on or frantic paddling to get on them. The beach itself was beautiful and it is secluded, there was another surf school there but further down the beach and we never came into contact with them. The lunch was good, props to the chef on the salad. Overall the day felt like you had gone to the beach with some mates for a swim, surf and lunch which was a good way to spend a summer's day. Was very relaxed and would recommend.

this looked promising but once we were picked up the driver had to get fuel, a prescription for his sinuses and food. Once at the beach (about 1-1 1/2 hr drive from sydney and not a comfy ride) i thought the waves were to small for beginners as you had to quickly stand before the wave disappeared but apparently they were "perfect". There was 1 group of 4 and our group of 2, the instructor spent most of his time with the other group who managed to stand up, we were not able to and obviously needed help. The beach BBQ and plates etc were covered in sand but we managed not to eat any of the sand!! After lunch the waves totally disappeared and could not really do anything. Spent about 2-3hrs in the water. The rest was driving filling up with fuel etc

I highly recommended this school because they took us to a very secluded beach where we could surf all day without running into other people, this is very important when you first learned to surf. I went to Bondi the day after this lesson and found people everywhere in the water, I cannot avoid running my board into them. The lesson was good and plenty of surf time. We surfed so much, we were completely worn out and still had 2 hrs left to surf. The instructor kept encouraging us to continue surfing but none us had the strength anymore. By the way, your knees will get scratched up pretty bad, so wear a knee pad until you get good. The sand will scratch up your knees and the salt will attach your wound, that's what wears you out and can't surf anymore but no worries about injuries.

Excellent day! The lessons were great and managed to stand up at the end of the day. The lunch was a good selection of stuff excellently prepared. With anything like this what you put in is what you get out of it.

The lesson was good, but I would have preferred if the guys had bought lunch supplies earlier and not wasted our time during the trip. Also in the back of the truck in the rain was extremely cold after surfing but hey, nothing we can do about that.

Yay! I learned to surf. I got a bit scraped up, but rode in some waves and had a good time. Overall it was a great tour -- the beach was lovely, the guys who instructed us were fun and professional, and lunch was good. I did wish we got to stay about an hour more -- we got there at 10.30ish and left at 3, with a break for lunch and instruction time. It didn't feel like I got to surf as much as I would've liked.
