Batik—hand-painted fabric—is a vital part of Indonesian culture. Discover how it works and create your very own piece of colorful fabric art, the perfect souvenir, in a charming studio outside Ubud. I had the most amazing time today, what an experience learning how to Batik paint. The instructor was very professional, patient and made the class fun! I really enjoyed my time, learnt about the history, put the paintbrush into action and have a memorable treasure to take home. If you are in ubud and looking for something fun, quirky and traditional - this is for you!

The fabric was so wrinkled it was hard to draw on. They could press them and leave them hanging. The pictures to trace were In a pile instead of a sleeve file and were very awkward to look through. The fabric was connected to the paper with two pegs rather than held firmly with masking tape. As an artist all this was frustrating.

The tour contacts were quite helpful with arranging transportation at a reasonable rate to and from the location. The instructions were quite clear and they helped ensure a successful batik end product. All the staff were quite helpful and pleasant. The water and snacks were greatly appreciated. The amount of time allocated was perfect with no feeling of being rushed. Thank you for a lovely afternoon doing artwork!

The facilitators were friendly and helpful, and instructions were clear. We were offered refreshments and made our own piece to take home, from start to finish. Their little crystal shop was also beautiful. I enjoyed every minute of this experience

Fantastic experience - loved making batik

We travelled from Kuta and it was great to get out and head to the mountains for the afternoon. I took my 11 year son and mum and both loved learning batik. Wayan is a very patient teacher and gave great tips. It helps when he is a passionate artist! I also loved that the studio was part of a local residence and so we had some lovely insights into Bali living. Now we have a great reminder of our trip. Highly recommend.

Had a fun time creating our own souvenir from Bali. Our creative guides/artists were a funny team of young men who were entertaining as well as being very patient while instructing us on Batik painting. My partner had never done anything like this before and I hadn't done any Batik since primary school (so a very long time ago). Would recommend this to anyone that wants to have fun and wants to be a little creative.

Picked up from my hotel on time, driven out to a family farm / compound. Such a great experience. The guys running it were all awesome artists and wanted to help out every way they could. Very much recommend it. There were two other families there and me (solo) Everyone had a great time. Surrounded by rice fields and great views.
