What To Expect

Get picked up in the early hours before dawn from your Bali hotel. You’re transported from there to the foot of Mount Batur, one of Bali’s most sacred mountains for the island’s Hindus, to begin your trek.

Before starting the climb, listen to safety instructions and a brief orientation from your guide. When you’re ready begin the ascent of Mount Batur in the darkness of pre-dawn. Continue your climb towards the summit, arriving at the peak right around sunrise. The inspiring sight of the new day breaking over the clouds and the island below is sure to be spectacular.

Celebrate your adventure on top of Mount Batur by fueling up with an early-morning breakfast. Sip on tea to warm up while your guide prepares eggs using heat from the volcanic steam escaping from the crater. You have time to enjoy your breakfast and explore the volcano’s three different craters before returning back down.

On your way back from your Mount Batur adventure, stop at natural hot springs, to soak off the grime from your hike and soothe your aching muscles. You also have time to visit a local coffee plantation, where you can learn about the process behind Bali’s famous ‘Luwak Coffee’ produced by the digestive process of civets. Return back to your hotel in the early afternoon..

Hiking was super fun, but getting to the top and relaxing with a light breakfast and a breathtaking view was unbelievable. Early wake up call but well worth it. Super fun and afterward got to go to the hot springs which is very nice after a long hike, and finished it off with some coffee which was delicious.

It was an enjoyable trek to the Monut Batur with a good local guide Edy, who explained us many things about this Batur volcano and life of people living in this area. Ariving on the top of Batur mountain, then observing the Sunrise from there was just FANTASTIC FELLING. The second part of the day was just wonderful, when our driver and guide Aron took us to the Natural Hot Springs in a fantastic place with very beautiful scenery and landscape.

Challenge but worth it

I’m very athletic and have great cardiovascular strength, but this climb challenged me way more than I ever expected. My knees also didn’t enjoy the hike back down the mountain, but I WOULD do it all over again for the experience and the view. The view was breathtaking!

Mount Batur Volcano Sunrise Hike

The Mount Batur Volcano hike is a must to do when in Bali. The sunrise was majestic and the guide was awesome. Such a beautiful experience. Only negative was I was solo and had to pay for two ppl minimum for pick from my hotel. Still 100% worth it tho!

We woke up at 2am, pack a jumper for the top and cool clothing for the hike which is HARD lots of step ups, loose rocks so stepping carefully is a must. You need grip shoes, do not wear normal sneakers. You need water and the tour guided are very patient. We took about 20 rest breaks for 1 to 5 minutes during the hike. It is such a spiritual and emotionally challenge experience and dare I day life changing!!! The journey was better than the destination

Amazing Tour with a Great knowlegable English Speaking Tour Guide.

My wife and I decided to do this tour on our honeymoon. Our tour guide Yandy (might be spelling wrong) was at our hotel at 02:30 am timely with a bigger Toyota van for us to sit in. It was an 80 min ride to Mount Batur. Yandy has been a tour guide since 1996 and spoke great English. I was able to carry a conversation with him. Once at Mount Batur we met our hiking guide who also spoke English. First off the Mount Batur hike sucked from a physical standpoint, but we were able to take a motorbike from the halfway point to the top. We had an amazing view watching the sunrise over the lake and the ocean in the background. I recommend taking cash with you on the hike because the villagers charge for water and to use the bathroom. We got to the Batur hot springs early and it reminds me of a series of swimming pools with lockers and showers. It was nice to get in the hot springs after the hike and stretch my sore muscles. Yandy waited the whole time. We then left and wen't to a beautiful rice terrece and got take pictures on the swing and other areas of the rice terraces. Simply stunning views. My wife is Russian and we asked Yandy to drop us off at a local Russain restaurant instead of the resort, he had no problem doing it, and even waited for us to eat. I offered to buy him lunch because I was impressed. He declined and sat in the car waiting on us, he was more worried about making sure we were completely satisfied with the tour than dropping us off at the hotel. Simply put, the tour was worth everything we wanted and more. Frankly, at the price, it was worth double for all the events we did that day. We did not pay for anything extra out of pocket but for our lunch. While the tour was memorable, our tour guide made it over the top excellent.

Push through it’s worth it!

Our driver Desna was early waiting for us, he was friendly and very good driver telling us information on the way there and on the way back! Not going to sugar coat this but this hike was hard, there are loose rocks and loose gravel. Our guide Asmara was very helpful offering short breaks on hard parts then pulling us up and telling us when it’s slippery. Now, when you do get to the top, it was worth all the huffing and puffing because the sunrise was incredible. Very rewarding, sitting there having light breakfast and cup of tea watching the sunrise over Lombok and Mt Agung. Best way to start the day. After you’ve finished the hike, it’s nice to go visit the natural hot springs and rest your legs in the warm water. Overall great morning and would recommend.

Amazing tour

The trip was simply amazing and very well organised - the Volcano hike was incredible, we well as the natural hot springs and the coffee tasting experience at a local plantation. Wayan is an amazing driver, I recommend him 100%. He’s very kind and told us lots about local customs and many funny stories. Our guide was also excellent and very friendly.

Tiring but amazing

Excellent service all around. Our driver, Benik picked us up early morning. He took us to the base of the mountain where we met with our trekking guide Como. The trek was difficult and took us a little over two hours but it was an incredible experience. Unfortunately it was foggy, and we didn't get to see the sunrise at the peak. I would highly recommend this tour.

My husband and I did this tour on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. As other reviews have stated, we simply can't stress enough that this is a fairly difficult hike. If you have weak knees or ankles, this is not the tour for you. That said, though, if you're up for a challenge, this is absolutely worth it. There were about 200 people of varying fitness levels who hiked up the trails along with us. The top of the volcano was very chilly, so bring a dry jacket so that you can fully enjoy the views and the breakfast. Be sure to also bring a swim suit for the hot springs, too. It's a very nice outdoor spa-like atmosphere. (Towels are provided.) Out of the whole experience, the walk down the volcano, that goes by a beautiful temple and through a farming community was our favorite. It was beautiful scenery and fascinating to learn more about the community. Overall, a wonderful day! The guides were fantastic, including Komang Godoh, who was our driver on another private tour the day before (Best of Ubud with the Bali Swing), too - so fun!

The Tour was great :D After initial booking I contacted them regarding contact details of the driver clarification on pick up and times and response was 2 hours which is great. We were picked up by our driver Gusti Rasnayasa promptly at 0130 who had just the right amount of energy for the two of us being sleep deprived to not feel horrible. We had a good nap on the drive to Mt. Batur with a quick pit stop as Gusti organised breakfast which we ate at the top/stop of Mt. Batur. We met up with our guide Asmara Putra who was a bit quiet but very polite and friendly. Seeing as we were two young guys he initially set a decent pace but when he realized I wasn't particularly fit he slowed the pace enough that the hike was challenging but not too slow that we didn't get a good spot we got a great spot. We took frequent short breaks throughout the hike and eventually we made it up there in time to get a small little table for our breakfast eggs, bread, banana and got some coffee. Definitely pack a jacket or long sleeve shirt as it does get chilly at the top. The Hike down was easier than going up and Asmara made sure we didn't fall on some of the trickier parts as well as talk to us about the surrounding landscape and mentioned how hard the Agung hike is. Asmara also managed to take down a sick pup where were a few wild but friendly dogs on Batur which caused a bit of a stir with all the other hikers picture attached After meeting back up with our driver Gusti we headed to the hot springs for a soak and unwind which was beautiful and not very crowded either. Since we were more awake we had much more of a conversation with Gusti who talked to us about the landscapes and some local culture on the way towards the Luwak Coffee plantation where we had a great tasting of 12 or 14 teas/coffees as well as some luwak coffee which we bought some of : . The drive home was relaxing and both our guide and driver were great. I would highly recommend both of them if you're in Bali and the Batur trek was definitely the highlight of our trip :

Friendly driver and guide...

Friendly driver and guide, Unfortunately my partner was sick and struggling, the guide was very helpful and accomodating towards her. About 1.5km in she was about to give up and turn around, with a few stops and me hassling she got halfway 2.5km to a rest stop with a view over the water and across from Mount Agung. She stayed here and I continued on for about another kilometre before deciding to turn around and make sure she was safe. We will both do it again next time and get to the top. Take plenty of water and money as some locals use scooters to ride up and sell you anything they can. Hot springs were a godsend with nice views them selves and the coffee plantation was amazing too TAKE MONEY it's hard not to walk out with plenty to take home.

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering a volcano hike. We managed to get 2hrs of sleep on the drive from Semiyak to Mt Batur, so it wasn't a completely sleepless night. Torches, water and a small breakfast were provided. Definitely bring a warm jacket for the peak and 30,000 IDR for a warm tea. Our runners got very dusty so consider bringing an old pair. The hot springs afterwards were perfect for refreshing after the hike, and the coffee/tea tasting helped us wake up again! This definitely made the entire volcano trek experience a lot more enjoyable.

Amazing tour. Somewhat difficult hike in that the rocks are loose and it's about a 2 hour hike up hill. Views are beautiful from the top, guide was fabulous, and driver was great too. Hot springs was a little gross, but I'm a germaphobe. Coffee and tea tasting was awesome, purchased several teas.

L'esperienza è stata molto positiva, ma il costo rapportato ai prezzi balinesi del tutto sproporzionato. Abbiamo tranquillamente visto persone che raggiungevano da sole il punto di partenza per raggiungere la vetta senza necessariamente avere una guida ed un autista che stesse con te tutto il giorno. Inoltre non sono state cucinate le uova sulla lava come credevamo.

La regola che conosciamo e seguiamo è pagare i biglietti d'ingresso alla comunità locale e li usiamo come guida locale perché li rispettiamo. per l'uovo, si normalmente cuciniamo al vapore vulcanico ea volte no. dipenderà dalla situazione del giorno. ci scusiamo per l'inconveniente e speriamo di poter migliorare il nostro servizio per il futuro.
