What To Expect

Head to the boat departure address and enjoy a lovely Danube River Cruise! Inside the cabin, settle into your seat and enjoy the ambiance of a Heurigen, a local wine tavern. Dig into a buffet dinner offering an array of Austrian recipes, including beverages.

While you eat, a duo on board will play Schrammelmusik, a popular form of Viennese folk music. Hear musical stylings incorporating the accordion and the double-necked guitar, an instrument with origins from Bavarian, Hungarian and Slovenian immigrants in Vienna.

Gaze out the window to soak up views of the city and the Danube River at night. Your evening will conclude at Schwedenplatz after you debark.

Night Boat ride on the Danube

Meet new Friends and to sail on the Danube River. A beautiful sunset. I would prefer waltzes in the music and also some dancing.

This was a river cruise for tourists. The food/buffet was really terrible. The music was worse. But the time with friends and seeing Vienna from the river was lovely. The lock may have been my favorite part. I suppose I recommend this, but don't imagine it is luxurious or elegant.

First of all, the viator ticket doesn’t get you in the boat. You have to stop at the upstairs ticket office with people barely buying their tickets, and exchange the viator ticket for a real ticket. The boat is nice, has a downstairs and an upstairs and you get assigned to a table. The boat has to wait at the canal exit and entry for a very very long time, and the smell of the engine starts to get to you as you’re waiting to get through to the open river. About 45 min of the tour was sitting there at the canal gate. The music was an accordion player and guitarist playing polkas and folk music. Not really what I expected for Vienna. I was hoping for some relaxing classical music or waltzes. They don’t describe any landmarks or anything to you, you’re just basically listening to the loud polka music the whole time, so then if you go outside, you’re just breathing in a lot of smoke from all the smokers on board. The food was alright. They had chicken fingers and called it schnitzel. To honest I wish I had researched the reviews more. I would have found a shorter tour that describes landmarks, doesn’t serve food, and is non smoking.

I took the 7 pm cruise, very disappointing. It was too crowded and people were asked to share table with other which is still fine. But when you out 5 people in a table for 4 it kills the joy of the trip that too when you mix 2-3 gps per table. There is option to move to the upper deck. Rude staff at the entry but polite waiters. The dinner was good, so was the Austrian live music. Otherthan that we couldn't wait to end the journey and go back..too boring.

Positive memorable moments were few. As far as the negatives go ,It was a hot night and no air conditioning it was very unpleasant . Singing was way off key. As far as the buffet goes it was very unorganised and took forever to make up a plate .Went back for dessert and hardly anything left . Even got charged for a jug of plain water with ice . Cost $42.00 for 4 cokes and water . Sorry but no recommendations for this activity

The cruise was great. We arrived to a sea of people and it wasn’t clear as to which boat we were getting on. Please note that if you get an online voucher you have to exchange it at the desk before getting on, this wasn’t clear. Directions to get there were clear. Once on, everyone serving us were polite and all spoke English. The music was lovely, an accordion and guitar for the evening. The food was good, buffet style and what you would expect, a good selection. The drinks were a good value. You will sit next to people from different parties but this didn’t affect us at all as there is places to sit outside and you can move around the boat as much as you like. It was a little chilly outside so bring a coat. I would recommend going in summer so that you can see more going out. Don’t listen to the reviews, the experience was great.

The actual cruise was fine. The same aff was friendly and helpful. The ships captain did a great job navigating the boat. But the meal made me sick and I threw up most of the evening after the cruise. I would rather paid more for better food then had the issued I had.

Would not suggest the cruise is called a sighseeing cruise as it was dark and you couldn’t see anything. When booking I did say we were English and would like translation. Everything was catered towards German speaking nationals so unfortunately was not an enjoyable experience. The food was good.?

Was strange that we were skirted over to only one section upstairs while everyone else had open seating. Food wasn't so great and wasn't seeing anything amazing on the river cruise. I would skip this.

Fabulous trip. Really enjoyed the sightseeing, the food and staff. Lovely holiday atmosphere with local musicians. My only complaint was that although we paid for return transfers from our hotel to the boat we had to make our own way back to the hotel. C'est la vie. That wouldn't stop us going again. I use a walking stick as necessary but I had no problem with the boat which was great as I was there to celebrate a special birthday.

This was the worst excursion that I have ever had using Viator tours. From being picked up 1/2 hour earlier than scheduled to waiting a 1/2 hour at another stop for a customer who never showed to waiting at the boat pier for van while they got tickets for us to board. This was the good part! The boat was a dive and the service terrible. The waiters didn't tell us to help ourselves to food and everyone on the first floor was already eating. The waiters spent more time outside smoking then tending to patrons. The WORST part was the view from the boat - most of the trip was a tributary of the Danube for most of the trip viewing Graffiti painted walls. Then too much time in an ugly lock both ways. Very little time spent on the Danube river. And the music was awful and loud. This was a wasted evening in Vienna and there were so many better things that we could have been doing. I chose it based on ratings on Viator which leads me to believe that only good postings get posted on Viator. CHOOSE SOMETHING ELSE! AND BE WARY OF VIATOR RATINGS!

A nice journey, but not all the way is on the Danube part of it is on a parallel river...however, nice views. The food was rather bland, but there was some variety and the crew were nice.

This sounded like a scenic tour of the sights of Vienna at night when they are beautiful...what it was instead was a cruise down the industrial and less scenic portions of the river with managing the locks taking up a good amount of time on the water and the food was mediocre at best.
