Spooky fun in the Capital

Richard was an amazing tour guide and filled the tour with the perfect mix of history and comedy. Our tour was intimate, it was only my friend, me, and one other party, so we were able to banter a little more than with a big group.

Highly recommend Richard and this ghost tour.

Our guide, Richard, greeted us and politely asked us to rest while the other couple arrived (just 5 of use on the tour) We started on time. Beautiful night of walking around the Capitol area of DC. Richard gave wonderful historical information at each stop, followed by the Ghosts associated with each locale. He was easy to hear and provided some photos of historical figures. He thoughtfully stopped where seating was available so we were able to comfortably listen to his interesting stories. He was likeable, fun and, at times, funny. Easy flat walking terrain and only short distances to negotiate. About an hour of very informative info. He graciously assisted with pictures. Highly Recommend tour, and Richard!

Had a great time on the ghost tour and heard lots of ghost stories. Our guide was great. This isn’t a scary tour though so if you’re looking to be scared, this isn’t the tour for you.

Richard was a lovely ghost host - he had great stories, was engaging, and chose spots with seating along the way. It was perfectly timed with the right level of information and he made it extra spooky on a cold, rainy night.

Our guide, Shaw, was very nice and personable. DC at night is gorgeous. Unfortunately, the tour was overbooked. The description stated the group was capped at 15, but we were over that number by at least five. The experience would’ve been better if the group would’ve been split in two smaller groups, each with a guide.

Maybe it was us and expected more out of a DC ghost tour but the facts were not even accurate or kept changing. The story-telling was lacking in a city filled so with much rich history.

SCAM! Don’t book it!!! I booked and paid for this tour a couple months ago. I even received a text message the morning of the tour confirming the tour. With the correct date and time. The ticket said to meet at the Supreme Court building, and our guide would meet us there. I arrived about 5 minutes early than the scheduled time. Didn’t see anyone. Thought I was in the wrong spot. Walked around the WHOLE building. Asked many of the police officers posted there. Went back to the front. Nobody was there. I finally asked the police officer who was posted at that spot. He said he knew if the particular tour, as he has seen them meet a few times. But nobody had met there that evening. No tour guide, no other tourists. He even gave me his name to use to call the company in the morning (I tried to call them while standing there half an hour after we were supposed to meet, but they were closed), anyway he gave me his name to back my story of seeing me get there a few min early, waiting, walking around and coming back. He is also willing to confirm that there has been no groups or tour hides meeting there, as his shift there has started over and hour previously and he hadn’t seen anyone. So obviously my tour got canceled? I mean if nobody else showed up, then why wasn’t I informed?! I got no email. No text saying it was canceled. Only texts verifying that the tour was scheduled! In fact, I’m writing this review from a link I received VIA A TEXT asking me to rate my tour!!! The tour that never happened! So if you want a ghost tour I’m DC, DO NOT use Ghost City Tours of DC!!! I’ve called and left a message, and Viator is also aware of the incident. I better get my money back. Just don’t book this tour!!!!!!

I have never seen anything like this eventhough I have taken numerous tours in different cities. Last night we were scheduled to do the night ghost tour in Washington DC at 21h. We arrived on time and there were already about 15 people with us. Surprisingly, the guide didn't show up, leaving us all there after having paid a taxi to drive us to the meeting point. No notice, no solution and no help. It was someone from the group who contacted Viatour and the answer she received was to send a mail to receive a refund. But the time we have lost and the no-visit to the city that I am leaving cannot be solved. We have traveled from Spain and we have paid one night in this city counting on being able to do this guided tour. I hope they will take responsibility for that and for the cabs I paid to wait for a guide that never arrived.

Our guide was great, very friendly and personable, and had a good mastery of the stories. The only reason we went 4 out of 5 is because we were looking for something a bit more theatrical from a ghost tour - fostering more creepy vibes than just hearing the stories.

Shaw was so educational yet entertaining! We thoroughly enjoyed our ghost tour. Never felt unsafe and the directions were spot on. We were the only two in our tour and Shaw never lost interest in us since we were such a small group.
