What To Expect

This day trip to Ljubljana and Bled starts with an early morning pickup from your Zagreb hotel. Your ride over to Ljubljana takes about an hour and a half, so relax in your air-conditioned minivan.

Once you reach Ljubljana, which is Slovenia’s capital city, your guide takes you through the old city center. Admire the architecture of old buildings in Baroque and Art Nouveau styles. See where locals buy food, and stop by the Ljubljanica River to see the Triple Bridge. Afterward, your guide gives you some time to journey through the city on your own. Now is also a great time to grab lunch (own expense).

Your next stop on this tour is Bled, a resort town in the foothills of the Julian Alps. Here your guide takes you to Lake Bled and the 11th-century Bled Castle. Please note the boat ride and entrance to the castle are not included in the tour price. Then, your guide sets you off on your own for some free time to go where you please in Bled.

Your tour ends with a drive back to your hotel in Zagreb.

Antonio was a superb driver and guide. The whole trip was excellent, even in the rain! If you have any interest in visiting Slovenia while in Croatia, take this tour. 😀

Too expensive, too much hidden fees

We enjoyed visiting Lake Bled. But the price of the tour at $130 per person was way too expensive. The tour had hidden fees which were not disclosed until the last minutes. We needed to cover the Lake Bled boat fee and also the entrance fee to the castle. The $130 was only for driving you round trip to Lake Bled from Zagreb and a 20-30 minutes walking tour of Ljubljana. In addition the small suv was packed with 8 tourist's plus the driver. The tour van had a small seat (supposedly it only fit a child) at the front between the driver and the passenger seat, I was sitting the seat! Very uncomfortable!

I can’t remember the guide name but I did this trip on 24.04.24. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. The weather wasn’t on our side but Ljubljana, Lake Bled and Bled Castle were beautiful. We had a good amount of time in each place. I’ve wanted to do the boat ride over to the island in lake bled so years now and it was wonderful. So tranquil.

A very nice tour and Stjepan Klaric made it even more interesting!

We loved Ljubljana city and the Bled lake/castle tour with our guide Stjepan (Steve). He was very professional and spoke good English. He made all attempts to make our tour very memorable. He explained the history of Croatia and Slovenia very elaborately. He also gave a lot of cultural information and made the journey very interesting. Thank you Steve! I highly recommend this tour with him.

Ivan was a wonderful tour guide! He was a wealth of information on the history of Croatia and Slovenia, and pointed out some excellent suggestions for attractions, food and drink in each destination. We had enough time in both Ljubljana and Bled to see the sights (only dampened by the rain ... but it is what it is!) - it was enough of a taste to want to go back for a longer stay!

An amazing day (04.04.2024) trip! Super worth it! This tour won’t disappoint! We had a fantastic tour guide, Ivan, who was also our driver. He arrived on time for us at our hotel and provided a booster seat for our toddler :) He was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of historical and cultural information. Scenic trip to Ljubljana and Lake Bled

Very nice tour to Lake Bled and Ljubljana. I enjoyed the boat ride on Lake Bled to the island the most. Although it only took ten minutes each way, I just loved it. The boat itself was amazing, well built in in amazing condition. Rower said he refinishes it each year, and was named Klara after his daughter. The castle was amazing as well. Enjoyed my time In Ljubljana old town with some amazing food at a restaurant recommended by our guide. I would recommend to all.

I booked the visit about 10 days in advance. 24 hours before it was due to take place, I received an email saying that the operator (Roundabout Travel) had cancelled it. Not impressed. I looked at the option of going from Zagreb to Bled by train but it would have been a 14 hour day.

It was a day very well spent in exploring Ljubljana city (lovely lunch with local delicacy štrukli), visiting Lake Bled and Bled castle. Doing this on our own in a day from Zabreb would have taken too much effort. Our tour guide cum driver Antonio was amazing with his knowledge of history, local customs, traditions and with some fun conversations. Going in small group has many advantages as we got to know our fellow tourists well and also got into one on one conversation with our guide in understanding many local things. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
