The hippodrome is often included as a stop on nighttime sightseeing tours of the Argentinean capital, along with other illuminated landmarks such as Plaza de Mayo, San Telmo, and the planetarium. Combine one of these tours with a dinner-tango show for the ultimate night out on the town.

One of the hippodrome’s most illustrious regulars was the famous tango singer Carlos Gardel. The singer owned a horse named Lunatic (Lunático), who was often ridden by jockey Irenaeus Uruguayan Leguisamo. Gardel named one of his tangos “Leguisamo Solo” in his honor.
