With a cool climate more reminiscent of England than Malaysia, the Cameron Highlands provide a welcome break from the humidity of Kuala Lumpur. Located 124 miles (200 kilometers) from the capital, the lush landscape offers tea plantations, strawberry farms, flower-filled gardens, and highlights such as the eerie Mossy Forest and afternoon tea in the hill station.
We had a fantastic time on the Cameron Highlands Tour. Well worth it!
Our tour guide was so lovely. He would tell us everything about the area, the food, the people. He was amazing!!
The stops along the way were brilliant, we had enough time to do what we wanted before moving on to the next stage.
A really enjoyable day out with my whole family.
The guide Jai was very hepfull and kind. We forgot a swearshirt in te car and te next day he brought it to our hotel in Ipoh.
His explanations were excellent. Very good driver.
Rajah was an excellent guide answering all our questions and taking us to all the places we wanted to go for as long as we wished. We loved the Cameron Highlands, this day will be a highlight of our holiday!
The guide Mr. Rajan made the trip memorable and enjoyable. He was attentive to our wishes and preferences, but also introduced us to local malayan lifestyle and amazing landscapes. I would recommend this trip.
Jani is an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and informative. Help us have a great day, tried many different fruits and vegetables of the highlands. His driving is calm, ideal given sone of the heavy downpours we experienced. Great day thanks
I had a really great day. I would recommend however if you're a solo traveller as I was, that you take a group tour. Having said that, my driver was fantastic, we saw a lot of stuff but it was a VERY long day.
My guide was really good. He changed the sites to my request.
The highligt for the day suppose to be the tea plantation "Cameron Valley Tea" which was really disappointing as it was only a shop, restaurant and finally a photo point with no explanation about the tea growing and making.
So my driver took my to the "BOH Heritage Tea Center and Factory" which had much better quality of tea and even a free factory tour included.
Excellent day. Our guide was Sam. He was amazing - and so knowledgeable. Gave us a well detailed explanation of everything he knew about KL, and history in general. So very polite - a thorough gentleman. He made our day.
Loved going to Cameron Highlands - breath taking my beautiful and green! For me personally- I get car sick - and the last 50 kms into the mountains is full of hundreds of twists and turns - so that’s something to be mindful of. Otherwise definitely worth it.
People Also AskQ:Are the Cameron Highlands worth going to?
A:It depends. Hikers, tea enthusiasts, strawberry fans, and anyone looking for a break from the lowlands’ steamy temperatures will find lots to love in the Cameron Highlands. However, travelers with limited time in Malaysia may choose to give the area a miss and focus on islands, jungles, and cities.
Q:What are the must-visit attractions in the Cameron Highlands?
A:The Cameron Highlands’ biggest single attraction is the Mossy Forest, a gothically atmospheric patch of rainforest that drips with moss. But tea plantations are the area’s signature attraction, and the enormous BOH Tea Gardens are one of the most popular tea plantations to visit.
Q:How many days do you need in the Cameron Highlands?
A:Many travelers find an overnight trip is right for the Cameron Highlands: At around a 3.5-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur, they’re pretty far for a day trip. You’ll want to hike the Mossy Forest, visit a tea plantation, and see bee, strawberry, and flower farms at work.
Q:Are guided tours available for exploring the Cameron Highlands?
A:Yes, there are plenty of guided tours that explore the Cameron Highlands. Tours from Kuala Lumpur are generally day trips or overnight visits, but you can also take half-day tours, including sunrise tours and tea plantation tours, from within the Cameron Highlands. There are also day trips from Ipoh.
Q:What is the best time to visit the Cameron Highlands?
A:You can expect some rain in the Cameron Highlands at any time of year, but the weather is driest in January–February and June through August. The weather is warm enough for tea plantations to harvest year-round, so there’s no need to worry about missing key stages.
Q:What should I wear during tours in the Cameron Highlands?
A:The Cameron Highlands are notoriously rainy, so you should carry a light rain jacket or a poncho with sturdy shoes if you plan to hike. You’ll probably want to wear long pants during the day, but bring a layer if you stay overnight: Night-time temperatures regularly drop to 60°F (16°C).
