I love gardens. Japanese and English gardens are especially my favourite. It's delightful to compare the differences in their sense of nature. An English garden designer in the 19th century wrote in her book, "There is something religious in Japanese gardens. " She was attracted to landscape gardens and dry gardens. Temples, shrines, and traditional architecture are also indispensable parts of Kyoto culture. It is special and unique, nowhere in Japan and across the world.
