For a day at world-famous Miami Beach, take a cab to the Ocean Drive and 10th Street area to explore the sand scene and the Art Deco District. Airboat rides in the Florida Keys usually offer alligator sightings, and an evening in South Beach means top-notch tropical cocktails.
If you don't book a tour or take a taxi, you can use public transit to reach Miami. Take the MIACOR bus—from outside the Port Admin building—and head toward downtown. From there, you can transfer to light rail trains that travel around the city. If you're walking, you can reach the Bayside Marketplace via Port Boulevard in about 15 minutes. Travel to more distant destinations is typically easiest with a cab or car service.
Miami Cruise Port is a main East Coast cruise hub, and travelers can find numerous cruises departing from here for Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bahamas. The local currency is the US dollar, and English is the main language, but more than half of the residents speak Spanish, too.
