The basics

Situated just outside Paris’ city center along the River Seine, the museum houses one of the largest ceramic collections in the world, holding more than 50,000 pieces ranging in style, era, and artistry. The museum is organized into themed galleries—including ancient Greek, Islamic, Chinese, Moorish, and Japanese regions—demonstrating various techniques, materials, and functions. While most of the ceramics displayed are historic, the gallery also hosts contemporary works by international artists.
