Let's explore the busiest locks in the nation, the Hiram Chittenden Locks! On this walking and driving tour, we will watch boats "lock through" and learn how the locks operate. In the late spring, we can visit the largest Great Blue Heron colony in the city to watch and listen to the chicks, and see baby salmon (smolts) going out to sea. From mid-June through September we will see adult salmon returning to navigate the fish ladder on their way home to spawn. We will learn how this critical component of our maritime industry and history transformed Seattle, and its role in managing our freshwater lake systems. Then we're off to Gas Works to learn about this one-of-a-kind park, where we will see float planes taking off and landing, and enjoy stunning views of the city. A raucous time will be had by all as we party our way around the Lake Washington Ship Canal and Lake Union. Our pirates will have you up on your feet. Defend the honor of Queen Anne’s Revenge as we fire the ship’s water cannons (weather permitting). Enjoy games and contests on the cruise. Nightly prizes for the Best-Dressed Pirate. Guests should arrive at Lake Union Park (860 Terry Ave N) at least 30 minutes prior to boarding time. Upon boarding, all party pirates receive a pirate name tag and all pre-ordered swag. Head to the ship’s store to purchase pirate swag not pre-ordered as well as snacks and beverages, including beer, wine and seltzer. Outside food and beverages are not allowed. Boarding lasts 15-20 minutes. The cruise lasts approximately 1:15 minutes, with up to 15 minutes of disembark time, for a total of up to 1:45.

Awesome tour
This tour was awesome and educational. The tour covered lots of beautiful places of Seattle. Lynn was amazing guide! She explained the concept of Locks very clearly. She went above and beyond and extended the time to cover all the mentioned places. Highly recommended!

Educational.
The Seattle Ballard locks tour was so interesting. Lynn explained in detail how the locks work and the history of how they came to be. We saw the salmon climbing the ladders to continue on their journey. We learned all about the salmon and their long road they must take to lay their eggs. We had some great coffee to. This tour was so educational and fun.
