The basics

The planetarium’s theater seats 280 and features a 360-degree screen that is 10 times the size of a normal movie screen. A number of different documentaries are screened each day and cover everything from the moon landing to the exploration of the cosmos. This family-friendly attraction offers a break from ancient history for younger travelers and can be visited as part of a kid-focused Athens tour or via a hop-on-hop-off bus tour of the city’s highlights. In addition to the theater, the planetarium is home to a science museum with interactive multimedia exhibits; labeling is in Greek and English.

When to get there

The highlight of the planetarium is its dazzling theater, so check schedules in advance to time your visit with one of the movies shown throughout the day. Wednesday through Sunday the theater is open until late evening, so you can catch an after-dinner show.
