The basics

Visitors can learn about palinka through the videos and exhibits, including the history of illegal palinka production during the communism. Guided tours with a palinka master are available several times a week and can include a distillery tour. Palinka tasting is a popular experience, with more than 20 kinds available. Visitors can also browse for palinka gifts in the upstairs shop or create their own label to put on a bottle of palinka.

How to get there

The Zugfozde Palinka Museum is located in downtown Visegrád, around 25 miles (40 kilometers) north of Budapest. Visegrád can be reached from Budapest by train or ferry. You can take a taxi to the museum. Several Visegrád buses stop nearby, including the 880, 882, 883, and 889.

When to get there

The Zugfozde Palinka Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 2pm to 6pm. The museum is small and can be explored in under an hour. Guided brandy tours are available on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 6pm and last around an hour, with a visit to an open-view kitchen afterward.
