Es Trenc Beach

Majorca

The basics

Day tours to Es Trench typically leave from nearby Palma de Mallorca, and include easy transportation and free time for you to explore the beach at your own pace. The surrounding wetlands, dunes, and salt mines offer plenty of opportunities for photography and wildlife watching; the beach itself is great for sunbathing or watersports such as snorkeling, windsurfing, or paddle-boarding. Some multi-day cruise tours also dedicate a day to Es Trenc Beach, along with other coastal highlights including Cabrera National Park or the idyllic Porto Petro.

Things to know before you go

  • Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit, beach towel, and reef-safe sun protection; there’s not much natural shade on this beach.
  • Facilities at the beach include sun loungers and umbrellas for rent, lifeguards on duty, restrooms, and ramps for wheelchairs and strollers.
  • Be aware that Es Trenc, like many beaches in Spain, has clothing-optional areas (though most visitors wear swimsuits).

When to get there

Despite its wild and isolated location, Es Trenc can get very busy, particularly during July and August. Arrive early to secure your seafront spot or plan your visit for the fall or spring shoulder seasons, when you’ll have more space to spread out.

Best Beaches in Mallorca

Es Trenc is one of the best beaches on the island, but there are more than 200 of them to choose from, including 30 Blue Flag beaches. Cala Formentor Beach in North Mallorca includes a picturesque backdrop of pine forests with views of mountains in the distance. On the other side of the island, Es Calo des Moro Beach is one of the most scenic, though it requires a climb down a rocky path to access. Those who prefer a more lively beach experience should lay out a towel on Playa de Palma, perhaps the most developed beach on the island.
